I'm finding Realband really helpful and flexible for checking out midi files. Easy to save them as midi (0) format and play them in Van Basco. Unpealed another layer of the onion.

Have you found use for the 'data filter' yet?
That made MIDI editing much easier once I discovered it.

Is there a good tutorial on editing using the Event list? I have no idea how to use it.

The Event List simply shows a list of MIDI events for the chosen track(s) in order of sequence.

You can Edit/Delete any of the events once selected.
