Hello, I upgraded to the 2019 Mac version. I am unable to hear the melody track when playing a song containing a melody. The style instruments sound fine. When I port this file over to Logic, the melody plays fine. I'm unable to set things up to hear the melody in BIAB

OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6
Imac processor 3.06 GHz inelCore 2 Duo
Memory 4GB
1TB hard drive
In Band-in-a-Box Mixer window, if you look at the Melody track do you see activity in the VU meter, and in the Notation window do you see MIDI notes on the melody track? Do you hear other MIDI tracks? For example try choosing an all MIDI style like ZZJAZZ.STY
The only sound is the drum track. the VU meters for other tracks are moving but no sound using ZZJazz style
After much discussion, I decided to select "return to factory settings" Under the Options pulldown The sound issue is no longer a problem.
Dealing with tech support and waiting for it to be resolved. Tried your suggestion but still no sound on melody track but the bar shows activity. I used the vst plug in with Reaper and the melody track is woring there.

Have several other issues waiting on response. Thinking of going back to the old version as this one has more bugs than the last one. I was hoping it was going to be better.

If you go to Options menu | MIDI input/output ports - what is selected there? Try selecting 'MIDI plugins' for all...
Everything had Session 1 in the box. Changing it to Midi Plugins worked. Thank you.

No matter what midi sound I select I still get the same one. I think I had this issue with the last version.

If I select midi supertrack then I get a different instrument.
Well... if you load a MIDI SuperTrack on the melody track, it's not going to just load a patch to play the existing MIDI melody, it's going to load in a complete instrument track (like a RealTrack, except MIDI). In addition it may load in a HiQ instrument (using the Sforzando plugin) for the MIDI sounds.

So it's unclear what you are saying ... if you look at the Mixer window, on the Plugins tab what do you see on the Melody track? Is a plugin loaded, and what patch/instrument is selected? If no plugin is loaded, it *should* be using the default Apple DLS synth, and you could try selecting different GM instruments, like 1.Acoustic Piano and 26.Acoustic Guitar (for example) to see if you hear any difference.
Nothing was in the plug in box for any track. When I add a plug in for the melody it works but it is the sound of the plug in not the sound I selected as a midi patch.

I am not finding the process that initiative. In the mixer window when you click on the track and you select a midi instrument patch, I was expecting it to change to that sound. Didn't realize you had to go to the plug in window and add a plug in to get the sound too. The option of selecting a midi patch should be grayed out if nothing is going to happen.

What is the sense of having the option in the mixer window of adding a midi patch if nothing is going to happen with out doing something else that you are not prompted to do?
You don't have to add a plugin for a MIDI (yellow) track, it will just use the Apple synth by default. If you have MIDI track you can select any MIDI patch. All the General MIDI patches should sound different. If they don't then that would be a strange problem and we'd have to figure out why that is. I only talked about MIDI SuperTracks because you mentioned it.
