So I was approached by a fellow from Noma music who told me that he'd heard some of my bands songs on CDBaby. Their company apparently brokers songs for background music to various entities including television film and commercials. Has anyone dealt with them or know someone who has? I spoke with the guy a few times and he sounded sincere but... Who knows?

Did you send them anything?

I didn't see anything that looked suspicious. The main thing is to read carefully any and all the documents they send if they tell you they want your tunes. And under NO circumstances should they ask you for money for this or that reason.... if they do, cease all further discussions with them.

Reputable publishers and libraries do not ask you for money.

It is common to assign them the copyright IF they are an exclusive library..... but many are non-exclusive so you simply sign the agreement that allows them to represent the song and retitle it so they know it was their pitch work that made the cut.

Looks like they are able to place the music so, hey... give it a try. See what they say about the music you write and record.
