Hi all,

Again - studying my music, my music teacher shared that chords build from the harmonic major scale were often used in early English folk songs.

Anyone hear of this before - or could offer other folk songs I could listen to and learn to get the modal accompaniment chords into my musical memory ?

Now, just to head it off - I'm not really looking to listen to modal chants of the monks - more interested in the accompany chords to the modes, and melodies built on them.
Have a look through this site, it is all in midi so you can pull the songs off and into a notation program, BIAB will do it too and you can then see for yourself the chord formations. There are English, Irish and a few other countries folk music on there.

great resource, thanks.

Technically - I'm not sure what 'folk' music is - though I can identify it - I'll have to take a look at the 1000-point genre list recently posted : )
