I couldn't read the article, a big SUBSCRIBE screen popped up and I couldn't figure out how to close it.

However, I do know that product placement have been subliminal advertisements in movies and TV shows for decades.

When you see that actor enjoying that beer, pizza, snack, soft drink or whatever and you can read the name, it's an advertisement in disguise.

And when you see a product on a shelf it's also an ad but I assume the fee is lower if the actor doesn't actually use it.

I have a copy of the Kinks "Lola" where "tastes like Coca-Cola" was the line. It was changed to "tastes like cherry cola" probably because they didn't want to pay the fee or Coke didn't like the product association with a transvestite.

In this corporate world, everything is for sale and everything is an advertisement (even Network "News").
