Interesting that when he talks about his #3 pick, Jimmy Page, he starts out by saying:

"Then there’s the collection of great guitar players from Britain. Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Mick Abraham. I’d call all of this the British block in my list."

Guess he is not a Clapton fan?
Yeah...we were amazed that Clapton wasn’t on the list. Love Gibbons but he needs to kick back and listen to Eric Clapton and the ABB playing Stormy Monday at the Beacon Theater. The combo of Gregg’s vocal and Eric’s solos floors us every time we listen...and that is often.

Bud, is that performance from a ABB concert with Clapton sitting in? Sounds like it would be right up my alley smile

Yes. Stormy Monday. You can find it on YouTube. Video quality is awful but sound is good. Just watching Derek watching Eric is too cool. Warren, Eric, Derek and Gregg are on fire.

This was an interesting list for sure. Thanks for sharing!

J&B,

I was surprised that Clapton wasn't on Billy's list also.

Eric Clapton, (aka Slow Hand), and Billy Gibbons would be on my top 10 list of guitarists for basically the same reason.

Neither of them try to throw every lick they know into a solo. They play what needs to be played to make the song sound good. It's not about showing off, … it's about playing good music.
