I know several folks on the forum use Native Instruments Komplete instruments and plugins. They just released Komplete v12 and it also includes the new Kontakt 6 (which can be purchased separately).

A few years ago, I found a spreadsheet that someone posted that tracked the changes from one Komplete to another. I used that as a basis for tracking my purchased editions of Komplete Ultimate. I started with Komplete Ultimate 8, so I modified the spreadsheet for just the Ultimate version and have kept it up to date. The spreadsheet includes the content from v8, v9, v10, v11, and now v12 Ultimate.

If you are first time buyer, it is not cheap ($1,199) and if you own Komplete Ultimate v11, you can upgrade for $399. I haven't purchased v12 yet, as I am waiting for one of the sales that occasionally comes around before doing so.

Anyway, you can find a PDF version of my spreadsheet here.

And for those interested, along with the other 85 instruments from Komplete Ultimate v11, here are the new instruments, effects, and expansions you get with Komplete Ultimate v12.

Two useless FWIW's

1. Tracking my old email sales (and my old purchases) - The 50% off NI UPGRADE sales (from Kontakt, in this case 5 or 6: or Komplete 8-11, not ultimate that's an UPDATE cost which is much less) - tend to be late spring/early summer.

Big difference UPGRADING from Kontakt 5 (or 6) to Komplete Ultimate for $599 versus $999 (now) or $300 versus $600 (now)from Komplete ("standard") is WORTH THE wait until mid year'ish 50% off sale use the saved ~$400 to upgrade BIAB to Audiophile 2019 at Xmas this year. Ooops did I speculate and start spreading rumors that there might be a BIAB 2019 version and it's not even NOVEMBER yet. Relax I'm NOT a beat tester so have zero, zip, nada, zilch, nien idea if PG will have a 2019 version for sale - just pot stirring here - grin )!

2. According to Chicken Systems - this is from recent email and this is a QUOTE, not my words, also this will only matter to sample converter'ers (yes bad English - made up word) and tweakers (like me)

"Files created by the upcoming Kontakt 6 (release Oct 1), due to encryption and new NI policies, will not be accessible by any program other than Kontakt 6 itself.

This means that you will not be able to translate, view, operate on, or audition Kontakt 6 NKI files within any third-party product such as Chicken System's Translator, Kontakt Assistant, or Constructor. You can only access/load/use them in Kontakt 6 - nothing else.
The Kontakt 6 extension will be the same - .nki/.nkm/.nkb. If you try to access those files in Translator, or any Chicken Systems product, you will get an error message.

What You Should Do
If you are interested in using Kontakt for authoring, or place some value in taking your information into some other format - such as EXS24, or SFZ, or your keyboard workstation (Motif, Kronos, Kurzweil, etc.), we advise keeping an older version of Kontakt around for creating accessible files. And if you use Kontakt 6, do not resave those nki's. Best Case: use a version v4.1 or less, giving you complete access. With v4.2-v5.8, you can access much of the information, but not modulators, filters, or effects. ..."

And BTW Chicken systems is NOT my favorite company, by a long shot, but I've had a love/hate relationship with Translator Pro for a bunch of years. It's been especially helpful in use with my Alesis Fusion 8 workstation. The Fusion, with unlimited banks and banks that can be sized anywhere from one patch to an unlimited number of patches per bank - it's a sampler & tweakers delight. The only size limitation of a single sample and a single patch in a single bank (on this very WRONGLY maligned and very very under-rated board) is the internal HDD space which is limited by last OS to 120 GB's and a "hair" more depending on the biggest Compact Flash card you can find to stick in it's single SF slot.

Good luck (and happy very early holiday speculating)

Larry, my useless FWIW:

Kontakt 6 also eliminated the Database. The database, even if you only occasionally used it, was a big help in finding different instruments or sounds. This is a big mistake IMHO.

I'm staying with Kontakt 5 for now.

I'm with MarioD on this. I'll stay with Kontakt 5 and as I already have Komplete 11 ultimate, I don't think there is enough new stuff in Komplete 12 (I already have many of the expansion packs for Maschine). I think I'll wait for Komplete 13.
