It's hard to believe he's gone. I thought they had some truly great music and production.
I was a bit surprised to see he was 75.
Yeah, I saw that. I liked their music, so different than what everyone else was doing at the time.
Yes, very sad...
Rick was the front-man for the 80's band 'The Cars'. He was described as a "New Wave Rock visionary"
This might belong in the songwriting forum. While there is one forumite who thinks that Pat Pattison is overblown, I thank him for pointing out the clever things that the Cars did to make their songs memorable and fun. One of the tricks that Pat points out is how often the Cars would use odd number of lines for bridge and prechorus sections. Go listen to their hits and you will see that he is right about that. It gives the songs a little ‘snap’ in addition to the great use of rock instrumentation and ‘naked’ unadorned synth parts that defined pop rock for their time
Oh and one other thing we probably owe to him in honor: it’s Ric, not Rick.
My bad, yes, his name is Ric, not Rick.

Agreed. I changed the title. Good catch.
Wow, losing so many lately. Sad to hear.
