This appears to be about the same thing my post a few days ago was about. DCMA and changes that are being discussed.

Herb,

Thank you for posting a link to your earlier post with a video link discussing the hearings. I did not find the post to include a link to your post while preparing my post.

I believe my post complements your post since both concern the same subject, US Senate hearings to determine the need of revising existing copyright law.
(Makes you wonder if the Eagles are ever really going to go away.)
Mr. Henley is absolutely right in his proposed adjustment to
copyright law. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions, (Henry
Ford, Sr. urged the elimination of the US Patent office,) no
artist, regardless of prior fame and stature, should be reduced
to begging You Tube to take down unlicensed covers or any other
infringement just because You Tube has the wherewithal to haggle
them into submission.
Personally, I think Google has pushed it beyond the limit. They
seem to think they can eavesdrop on any conversation, bug any
computer, track all movements, rate the social worth of every
citizen, and I could go on. Google makes a mockery of the US
Constitution, the Congress and the Courts, the Bill of Rights,
and has the nerve to flaunt it to our faces. Their latest scheme
is contact tracing and subcutaneous tracking chips, like you would
get for your dog. The irony of that!
