4. It's A Beautiful Day
Here is song 5 in the 50/90 Songwriting Challenge. It was part of a weekly challenge to write a song about a phobia. I chose acrophobia, the fear of heights. The style used was rap 1 sw16, the instruments are all midi, and they are 37 slap bass, 5 Rhodes piano, Standard drum kit, 26 acoustic guitar, it is a funny song so I hope you like it. Let me know, thanks. Here is the link.
5. Acrophobia
Hi Robert, all of these a great starting points. I hope when this challenge is done you will come back and polish these songs up a bit.
I guess I should qualify by remarks. Writing x amount of songs in y number of days is a great way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and to stimulate your writing processes. However something has to be ignored and that mostly is polish. You have 4 real gems in the rough thus far IMHO. A little polish would take them over the top.
Keep up the good work.
Here is song 6 for the 50/90 songwriting challenge. The style is from SD#94, Fast Western SW/Pedal Steel. The instruments are 538 Acoustic Bass, 374 Acoustic Guitar, Drums Nashville SW8^Snare-ride, 815 Electric Guitar, 1135 Pedal Steel. The song is entitled I Want To.
6. I Want To
Hi Robert,
I've just had a listen to "I Want To". It's a great, catchy song. To my mind, this is lyric writing at it's best. Good word economy, memorable and makes you feel like you can sing along with them straight way. Congratulations of a wonderful effort.
One thing that occurred to me as I was listening is that this song, to my ears at least, would stand repeating the first verse again. People would love to sing along with it and it really sums up the song so well. I know that, at the moment, rewriting is not on the table because it's all about production. If you ever get back to this one, though, the above is just a thought that might be worth trying.
All the best,
Noel
Thanks for the listen, and for the lyric suggestion. When the 50/90 is over I hope to try it. Thanks!
Great Googly-Moogly at your current rate it'll be 90 songs in 50 days ! Slow Down Robert ya makin us look bad ! I want to outta be a regular at any church ! Good Job !
Robert,
Great job on this one (I Want To)! With the country feel, and the way the steel is working, this one kind of reminds me of another very prolific songwriter, Hank Williams Sr. That puts you in pretty good company in my opinion!
Keep up the great work!
Steve
Thanks for the very kind words. Hank Sr. was an amazing writer. Don't worry I will slow down. Not because I want to, but because this ole body won't hold up.

Two songs today. The first was a challenge song in the 50/90 Songwriting challenge. The challenge to write a 1 Chord song. This entire song is done in the key of E.
25. Love Me Tonight The second song I wrote as a tribute to The 50/90 Challenge. Entitled The 50/90 Challenge, ha, ha.
26. The 50/90 Challenge
This is another challenge song. The challenge was to write a song either about city life or using city life in the title. I did a comparison of Country to City. I hope you can take the time to give it a listen. I did something new on this one. I used Automation on the Vocal. Let Me know what you think. Thanks.

Number 28 of the 50/90 Challenge. The way I wrote this one was a little different. I took a biab demo song in the style AG cross sped it up a little and then muted the melody and wrote the lyrics around the backing track. Here is the demo. All of the instruments are midi.

Steve
You are a song writin machine Robert ! I can can relate to DUIed ! Good Job Dude !
Thanks Steve and Tommy for the feedback. I know now why they call it The 50/90 Challenge. It sure is challenging, but it sure is fun to.
Number 31 is in the books. It is in answer to a 2 instrument only challenge in the 50/90 challenge, it is piano and bass. I have been told by several of you here at the forum that I should try adding vocal harmonies. This is my 1st attempt at it. Low and High part.
31. Jesus Will Be There For YouMy 50/90 Songwriting ChallengeMy Music Reverbnation My Music MyspaceRead My Blog
In this song I use an alarm clock and phone message beep sound effect. Important Note: No phones or alarm clocks were harmed in the making of this song. The style is Med Rock Bal W Dire Electric Guitar. Bass=518 RD=Nashville ev8^1 SS, Ride. 362 Acoustic Strum Guitar and 508 Electric Rhythm Dire. The song was a little fast for the style, so in a few places the instruments sound like they could not walk a straight line if they were given a sobriety test ha, ha. This is song #34 in my quest for 50/90.
34. My DreamMy 50/90 Songwriting ChallengeMy Music Reverbnation My Music MyspaceRead My Blog
Song 35 is a collaboration. The Lyrics are Geneva Griffin's, I did the music with Biab 2010.5 and the vocal. The piano and the strings are both midi. I created a hybrid style using Bach 1 classical piano style for the piano, and then the Orchestral 4/4 w Harp for the strings. Thanks!

This song is in response to a challenge at the 50/90 site. The challenge was to take one of the suggested lyric lines and use it either as the title or as a line in the song. I chose to make it the title. The only real track used is the solo guitar.

Steve
Thanks Steve, rsdean, Skyline, Tommy C, Steve Young for listening and commenting.
Hi Robert!
Wow! You're a legend! I cannot believe that you're up to #38 already. I've been popping in periodically, listening and enjoying what I hear. I've got to hand it to you, you've done an outstanding job
All the best with the next dozen songs.
Noel
There are several that have more songs than me done, I think one guy already has over 100 songs done. It has been fun, and challenging! Thanks for the kind words.
You are really a nice player and a very good singer. All the reason I take your kudos to heart when you compliment me. This song brings to mind a kind of Kenny Loggins meets The Beatles thing for me. And the messages in your songs are clear. Really good stuff!
PGfantastic is a true description of your songwriting skills since the start of this thread. I have written hundreds of songs over the last 40 years but NEVER so many in such a short period.
VERY very impressive, well done PG!!!
Thanks eddie1261 & Gibson for listening and the kind comments. I chose the name pgfantastic describing the amazing tool that is Band in a Box. Of course you both know already how powerful it is. Thanks!
Song 39 is done, it started out using the Charleston style midi and I put real tracks in the place.
39. In That Beautiful Land
Here is my latest song for the 50/90 challenge. It is all midi instruments, it is the style R&B Frank-Gospel R&B Grove. Style disk #40.
40. Here Am I Lord
Song 41 was the week 10 challenge. Hard to believe it has been 10 weeks already.
41. A Photograph Of You In My Heart
Up to song 42, of the 50/90 challenge. The Lord just poured this song out to me. It is called In My Arms.
42. In My Arms
I got the title for this song from lyricideas.com. It just grabbed me. A little humor today.
43. It Is No Picnic Without You
My cousin Angela Underwood wrote the lyrics to this one, I used band in a box, it is all real tracks from band in a box for the music.
44. Get Alone With Jesus
I am a huge Batman fan! I used Acid Music Studio 6 for this one, it is A hard rock number. Hope you can give it a listen. The style is a little out of my comfort zone. It is number 45 in the 50/90 Challenge.
45. BATMAN
This song is all Band in A Box. Got up this morning and the words just started flowing. Praise to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
46. I Will Finally Be Home
This song I did something a little different. There are no Band in a Box tracks on this one. I actually played the guitar and piano myself. Not at the same time of course, ha, ha. The piano is my Yamaha Psr e203 Played through Reason. The Flat Top is my Takamine Ef341 I mic'ed it using a Samson C01 Condensor Mic. As always with a gospel song it is more about the message. I realized today just how much I love band in a box. lol.
47. One Day, One Place
The Harmonica and Drums are real tracks, the bass, lead, and piano are midi. Song 48 of the 50/90 challenge is complete. The challenge for this week was to write about a 50/90er, I wrote about them all.
48. Here's To All The 50/90er's
I love # 47 almost made me cry ,Ok it did ! Love it Robert I praise GOD for you!
Thanks Tommyc for listening and commenting! God bless you!
I was not going to do a song today, but then I saw the title of this song in the newspaper and the lyrics just started coming. It is number 49 in the 50/90 challenge. It was not a certain style. It is a swing 8 with realtrack ukulele, bass, harmonica and drums.
49. You Never Know What Words Will Be Your Last
Bob, I have been listening to your songs and I must say you are one very versatile songwriter. Your lyrics are great, as is your vocals. “A Photograph of You in my Heart” is my favorite thus far, however it was a tough choice to make.
Keep up the great work.
Ps – how can you write such great songs is so little time?
Thanks MarioD for the kind words. In answer to the question about getting songs done so quickly, Biab is a huge part of it. I am more focused on writing, so now I turn anything I hear that stands out into lyrics. I usually take the idea and type it into a program called Lyricist. I then open the internet to rhymezone. Lyricist has a rhyming dictionary but it is not as advanced as rhymezone, I also open the thesaurus. I then open Biab to start entering chords. A few of the songs I actually loaded the demo song in Biab, muted the melody and wrote the Lyrics around it. When I joined the 50/90 challange, it sounded impossible. But like anything else the more you do it, your mind works even when you sleep. A couple of the songs I woke up singing. I usually write the song the night before and then record the vocals and mix the next. I pray for the words as well. Sorry for being so long winded in reply, hopefully this can help someone new to songwriting.
Here is Song 50 in the 50/90 Challenge. I actually have 2 more to do between now and Octorber 1st. 2 of the 50 were collab work, so I am not counting them, so I only have 48 that I actually wrote myself, but the site shows 50. Get it? I'm confused, LOL.
50. Jesus Christ Is The Living God
This is song 51 in the 50/90 challenge. The challenge this week was to write about something that I had not written about during the challenge. I chose the good ole USA. It is all realtracks.
51. I Am From The USA
Hey Robert I'm from there too ! Good Job !
This is song 52 on the 50/90 challenge. I wanted to make sure I reached the goal of 50 solo songs. 2 songs were collaborations. I may do the last weekly challenge and then I will be done. Thanks to everyone who has took the time to listen to these and for the feedback. Everyone on this forum is always so helpful and courteous. Thanks! I would suggest to everyone next year to sign up and try the 50/90 challenge, even if you do not get 50 done it will keep you writing. Thanks to BIAB, I could never have gotten this done without it.
52. This Is The Day The Lord Has Made
This is the last of the 50/90 songs I will be posting. It has been FUN! Thanks again for the kind words, tips and encouragement. Pg is my favorite forum of all I go to. This weeks challenge was to take a song that you had not finished or that needed to be worked on and finish it. It was funny about a week before this challenge, I was going through some notebooks and found this song. I wrote it originally at 15 after my girlfriend, who would become my wife had broken up with me. Sadly we divorced after 26 years, so the sentiment is still about the same. The original lyrics had a line that was blasphemous, so I was never comfortable singing this song. . I changed those lyrics and did some other rewriting to get this new version. Thanks again to all!
53. Just To Have You
This is Just To Have You remixed felt like the stereo image needed to be wider, and a little mastering verb added from Izotope 4.
53. Just To Have You

1st of thanks to Mario for asking the question I often thought of but never asked. And thanks for the answer Robert as like Mario, and I am sure many more here on the forum I have always been amazed at your writing skills. Keep up the good work my friend and remember just because I don't always respond does not mean I am not enjoying your work.
Take Care,
Robert, Bob, (our oldest sons name)
You have a true gift with your lyrics and music.
Listened to several more of your songs this morning.
I walk down the lazy side of the street you walk on, but am
behind your efforts 100%.
Think some folks learn by trial and error, but word spoken and
specifically written can do great harm, or great good as your gifts do.
Thanks for sharing your "Gifts" with us all
