Here is a little tune i was working on recently. I started, and changed music twice. I finally was running through some demos and found a chord progression i loved. All tracks are RB, and personal vocals. I Hope to track my own accoustic guitars and bass soon, on the next remix.Hope Y'all like it http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=481421

Hey Robo - is there anywhere I can view the lyrics while I listen, or could you post them???
Sorry but with about 20% of my hearing left, lyrics are not always clear against the music background tracks, and hearing aids don't fix the problem.

Thanks - Ian

Hey Robh

What a nice song. Really like your voice - and great harmony as well.I agree with your choice of chord progression, nice. I listen to your song with headphones, and have a few observations on the mix. Your voice sits perfect in the mix, although IMHO it could be brought a tad forward. BTW that apply for the nice harmony as well. The organ and drums are in my view a bit dominant, and could disturb the voice a bit - and that's a pity!. It sound like you have panned the drums hard left, is that right?
Really enjoyed your song

Just my 2 kroner

Here is the lyrics guys

The Winds of Change

Verse 1
Storm clouds gather all across this lonely land to night

Dark winds blow thru the trees and rustle the leaves of life

The winds are a changing, and no one can hold them at bay

We all look forward to the chance of the light of day

Chorus 1
There is hope where there is light, and we dream where we fear no night

There is joy that lives in our hope, with kindness all can learn to cope

we have faith when we hold our dreams tight, and peace comes where no one fights

Verse 2
Who'll stop this endless storm and make all things right

What will bring on the changes that we know must come about

When we will see the signs of a clear bright morning light

Who has the vision to see through the fog of fear and doubt

Lead break

Chorus 2
There is hope where there is light, and we dream where we fear no night

There is joy that lives in our hope, with kindness all can learn to cope

we have faith when we hold our dreams tight, and peace comes where no one fights

Chorus 3
There is hope where there is light, and we dream where we fear no night

There is joy that lives in our hope, with kindness all can learn to cope

Put all these things together and there is love, and love makes all things right.

Jan, thanks for the pointers i will give each of them some thought. I am going to have at least a couple more passes for final mix. I appreciate all input I am really trying to get this thing down, as some of these songs will make the final cut for Album 1

Nice one Rob. I would be interested in your guitar setup - guitar/amp/mic, etc. Very nice clean tone.

Regards,

Bob

Hi Rob,

Nice song. Has a sweet almost melancholy feel to the melody that I like a lot.

I would like to very humbly suggest a couple of things that I feel would make the song flow better , which of course you are entirely free to ignore completely!

I feel the intro could be cut to four bars so that the vocal comes in around 20 seconds or so. 36 seconds is a fairly long wait to get to the song when you consider most songs will be hitting the chorus at about a minute or so.

And on the subject of the chorus, which of course is the hook, I think the second chorus repeat needs to come in sooner. All that is needed is to put the Lead Break between Chorus 2 and 3 rather than before the first repeat!

But, as always, just my humble opinion.

Good luck with the song

Take care

Martin

Those are great ideas Martin, thanks i will sit down and consider all this carefully.

Bob, they are all RTs right not as this is not the final mix. I will be tracking my own accoustics and most likely bass.

I really like this song. Great melody, my favorite kind of guitar sound and I really like your singing.

I'd love to hear the vocal more up front. I like the vocals to be on top of everything. So clear, you don't have to strain to hear one word.

I'm big on short intros. I'd cut it in half. I always get inpatient waiting for the song to start.

I know that's a lot of suggestions, but this is the first time I've ever made any to anyone.
I hope you're not offended. I just really like this and like your style, from your voice to your clean guitar sound. Which I use almost always. I'm in love with clear clean guitar. And you got it.

Like I said, I've never given advice before. But I really like your sound/style.
I know you might not agree with anything I said, but believe me when I say this is coming from someone who appreciates your music.

However you feel about what I said, please believe me, I'd love it if you didn't change one thing. I really like your sound and your style. I hear a lot of great music here. But it's not often I here someone's music that I'd like to play besides listen to. I dig it. You have a fan. You had me, after I heard the notes from your guitar.

I hope this helped.
Sincerely, Wayne,

Opem honest suggestions are always welcome. I am making a list of stuff mentioned and will have a very close look at what makes sense. I thing shorter intro, move second chorus up to right after second verse, then lead break, and final chorus, then a remix of the vocals and some drum processing. Fianlly a redo of the accoustic guitars, and the bass is in the works. I want to play a bit more live, as i love RTs but want to be more than the "singer" That way if I toss this one into the set list i have to fill the accoustic out.
