My nieghbour had written a song (lyrics only) when she was a little girl, she is now a pensioner.
Well, she asked me if I could do anything with the lyrics and turn it into a song for her.

Here is my attempt to do this for her: Waulkmill Bay
I know it seems a little repetitive, but, I just used her Lyrics as she had written them.

Hope you enjoy.

Best regards
George

Lyrics

When I Think Of Orkney
And I Think Of Orkney Often
I Think Of You
By Waulkmill Bay
How We Walked Hand In Hand
Along The Silver Sand
And Whispered Words Of Love
By Waulkmill Bay

When I Remember Orkney
And I Remember Orkney Often
I Remember You By Waulkmill Bay
With The Moonlight In Your Eyes
And The Softest Summer Sighs
Drifting O'er The Sea
By Waulkmill Bay

When I Dream Of Orkney
And I Dream Of Orkney Often
I Dream Of You By Waulkmill Bay
Running Barefoot On The Sand
Once Again I Hold Your Hand
And Whisper I Love You
By Waulkmill Bay

When I Return To Orkney
And I Shall Return To Orkney
I'll Return To You By Waulkmill Bay
I Will Find You Waiting There
With The Sunshine On Your Hair
And Our Love Will Bloom Again
By Waulkmill Bay

When I Think Of Orkney
And I Think Of Orkney Often
I Think Of You
By Waulkmill Bay

Hi George,

I congratulate you on a wonderful song. I really really enjoyed the journey To my ears, this is the best song of yours I've heard. It didn't sound repetitive at all. For me, the repetition was an important lyric device that acted to highlight the reflective nature of the main character's thoughts. Your melody and chord progression were a perfect match for your friends words and you iced the cake with an excellent choice of instruments.

To my way of thinking, these lyrics are exemplary. They very competently show how the emotional impact of a song's words is boosted by (a) varying the poetic meter of the lines, (b) strategic and minimal use of asymmetric rhyme, (c) lyric repetition and (d) strong lyric development by increasing the emotional weight of successive sections. I've also got to say that your choices for the musical phrases that these lyrics rested on made the words shine and sparkle; excellent prosody.

All in all, it's "Wow!" from me.

All the best,
Noel

George,

Beautiful music you created for her lyrics.
The simplicity of the first 1:11 with violin and guitar
sounds so nice, then bringing in the strings is a good touch.

I'd think your neighbor friend is extremely happy with the way
you brought her story to life.

Your vocals sound great to me, also they really fit the music
and its meaning.

Thank you for sharing your hard work, music and friends song with us!

Very nice...what a great gift to your neighbor...it takes real talent to take pre-=written lyrics, then put to music...you did a wonderful job!

Hi Tano Music,

Where it comes from, well I think it comes from a higher source, but why me, I have no idea

Hi George, it appears as though my first message is in PGMusic purgatory! That has been happening to me a lot lately!

Anyway I wanted to say that I enjoyed your song. Great lyrics so be sure to tell you neighbor that, along with a super backing track and some excellent vocals.

Great job on a great song.

Hi George,
I enjoyed your song very much. You made a very nice arrangement and great vocal. I loved the simplicity of the opening. You made an excellent job writing this song given the lyrics - always more difficult when not your own lyrics. I am sure the lady will be very happy with this song. Vert well done.

Best Regards
Jim

Hi MarioD,
Thank you for taking a listen.
I will pass on your good words to my neighbour.
I did experiment with the vocals by trying different EQ, Reverb and volume settings.
What I arrived at was what you hear.

Hi George,

Tell your friend her lyric is absolutely lovely. You added to it's rich bittersweetness with your production.

Enjoyed this very much.
