Where There's A Wills, There's A Way

©2012 Robert Randall Burke

Some people tell me there just ain't no way
I can go back in time
To hear that music that I like to play
That makes me feel so fine.

That Texas music that's got that swing
That Texas music I love to sing...

So don't you tell me it just won't play
Where there's a Wills, there's a way.

Instrumental Break

That Texas music that's got that swing
That Texas music I love to sing...

My Band's In A Box now, so I can play
Where there's a Wills, there's a way.

My Band's In A Box now, so I can play
Where there's a Wills, there's a way.

Regards,

Bob

Bob - incredibly good. very authentic sounding. and very clever (both the title and the nod to BIAB). Sounds "so real" - like a bunch of guys who have played together for years. nice production. nice mix. excellent job.

I must be psychic, I sort of predicted that it would a fiddle, texas swing country type of song (ha, ha). Nice tribute tune to this style of music. I never really listened to the original purveyors of this type of stuff, but I did listen to a lot of "Asleep At the Wheel" back in the day.

Floyd -

Thanks for the kind remarks.

Kevin,

Thanks. Bob Wills is a legend in Texas, and has influenced a lot of people. Asleep At The Wheel was one such group.

Thanks Eric. I threw this one together in about an hour, so it's a little rough, but it was just for fun. Any credit should go to BIAB/RB.

Thanks Danny. Everything I've posted is original, per the rules of engagement here. Glad you enjoyed it.

Bob

excellent job! ...and very clever play on words!

Regarding the style:

I was expecting Ernest Tubb to step up to the mike for a verse at any moment
This sounds great! I must say I am really starting to enjoy this style of music. Good job

It’s all been said. This is great country swing and super tribute to Bob Wills. Heck, we have heard of him up here in the north!

Top notch performance all the way!

Two thumbs up!

Hi Bob,

Yet another top class composition. I always enjoy listening to your music and this didn't disappoint. I noticed my foot tapping along somewhere around bar 3. It's a very infectious composition and arrangement you've created.

All the best,
Noel

Thanks Mario. Stay warm up there. It's 50 degrees here in North Central Florida! Too cold!

Bob,

Up here in Northern Cal, lotsa casinos. Lot of the Classics country
is played.

I love your laid back style with the vocals.

Just listened to Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas comparing the beat and style.
Ya got it nailed.

As mentioned above, first class everything...

Thanks for sharing.

I Love Western Swing, have had a lot of friends that played it. Here is a link to Billy Braddy we were just starting to use Biab when we recorded this tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3044bRlvII Sadly Billy had Cancer and died not too long afterward. I recorded him live at a local Oprey House for a couple of years. When I found out he had Cancer I recorded him direct and left out the band. I made a Loop CD from the licks and used it to make some cover songs for some friends of his. Thanks Bob for posting this wonderful song, it really brought back some great memories for me!

Cute. Nice job.

At first, I thought it was a cover of this great D&B song:
