A Tribute to my Wonderful Friend and Fellow Musician . . . Charlie Little
In actuality this composition was written a few years ago, in fact it was written the night after I got the news of Charlies passing. You see as much as I was not up to it I had to play a music job that night, so this song was written on the drive to my show. Also reality set in on that drive that even though Charlie and I weren't playing music again professionally, the fact was that we never would, well in this lifetime anyway.
I'll apologize up front for the length of the song, but I needed that much time to say what I felt and it was a long drive to the gig that night.
The Key of Lonely Tonight Thanks for your time and opinions.
later,
Apologize for nothing, Danny.
A wonderful tribute and in the scheme of things 4mins 18 to honour you friend is too little time.
Its a great song, written from the heart and having to go on and perform that night must have been THE hardest thing.
Its an excellent song and that man on the Sax really knows how to go with the Mood.
Thanks for sharing Danny - I hope that these days you can look back on Charlie with fondness and remember the Good Times
Best regards
ian
This is an amazing piece of music on all fronts. Starting with the title, fabulous, thanks for sharing!
My Tunes
Hi, Danny !:)
I found myself weeping
silently as I listened
to your beautiful song !
I know what it means to
loose one´s best friend
as I lost my dear wife Beni
to cancer in 2011 !She was my
first love and we were given
almost 42 wonderful years
together. I will never get
over it, but I´ll have to
manage because of my kids.
Time is the only thing that
can heal enough to be able to
carry on, but it can´t heal
you completely. My consolation
is that I´ll meet her again
in the afterlife and then we´ll
be together forever !
Cheers
Dani
Danny,
Excellent work. Outstanding all around.
Bob
Danny,
A fine tribute to a friend. Charlie was a wealthy man indeed.
Regards,
Bob
I like the way your voice breaks as you sing, that adds great emotion to a sad song.
Nice reprise: "I play my guitar with tears out of sight, I'll be playing in the key of lonely tonight".
Also it didn't seem like it was over 4 minutes long.
excellent
Alyn
Danny,
There's nothing better than music from the heart. This is obviously that. A beautiful tribute. You never really "lose" a true friend - and this song proves that.
floyd
Your beautiful voice transports a lot of feeling.
And the backing tracks add to that.
A very touching song.

Danny you get a gold star for this one. A great reminder to all to enjoy the ones we love while we can. Life is fragile, and can be gone in a flash. Thanks to your great tribute to a dear friend I will take my own advice and call a couple dear friends today. Just to say hi.
Smiling at you in the key of lonely today.
Danny, sounds great. Beautiful melody and words.
Ian,
Thank you so much for the kind words and yes while I still think of Charlie on every gig and the thoughts are always happy ones. Charlie was one of the funniest guys to have around, especially while playing a gig.
Later,
Robert,
Thanks for your time and input. Regarding the title it was a no brainier as while sad to say at one time or other every musician is faced with this same scenario.
Later,
Dani,
I knew from the git go this song would tug at some heart strings, I hope it did not pull too hard on yours, especially knowing and thinking of your recent lost at the time I posted the song.
And very often when performing this tune live I get images in my mind of other loved ones who have passed on. Hopefully like you when you meet your bride again we too will enjoy a grand reunion in our father's house.
Thank you,
Bob,
Thank you very much for the time to listen and your kind words.
Later,
Bob/90 db,
Yes in the grand scheme of things Charlie was indeed a wealthy man. Besides many friends Charlie left behind a wonderful family that are also like family to me. I speak to them often but not as often as I would like.
Later,
Alyn,
Thank you so much for your kind words and yes this one was hard to get through. After a few retakes I decided it is what it is so the clams here and there would just have to stay.
Thanks for the kind words.
Later,
Floyd,
Man you are right on about never really losing a friend, I'll bet I have another 10 songs I could write about gigging experiences with this guy. Heck we played music together well over 30 years off and on.
Thanks for you kind words.
Later,
Guenter,
Thank you very much for you kind words.
I am glad this song touched you.
Later,
Robh,
Thank you so much for the gold star and of course the reminder to call people you love more often. In fact I called Charlies wife to get her blessing before I posted the song anywhere. I think I'll call his children tomorrow also.
Remember now as musicians we cannot play in the same key too often, especially the key of lonely.
Later,
Danny what a wonderful tribute your friend. Charlie was blessed to have a friend like you.
Charlie,
Thanks for the listen and kind words. I know you have a new song posted I have to get to soon but do you have anymore wacky videos in the works?
Later,
Thank you Mario, Charlie was a great guy and just about as funny!

Hi Danny,
This is a song to be awfully proud of. As a piece of music it's superb. As a tribute to a wonderful person, it is outstanding. You've really distinguished yourself as a songwriter with this one.

Noel

Very nice and likely good for your soul. I wish I could do the same for a similar situation but just haven't gotten there yet. Thanks for sharing.
Danny. What can I say that hasn't already been said?
It's simply a beautiful song and a fitting tribute to your good friend. I didn't think it was a second too long.
ROG.
Great tune and performance Danny!
Thanks for the kind words, and you are correct it was good for my soul, especially after hearing back from Charlie's family as to how much the loved the tribute.
Regarding your similar situation I know it sounds like just words, but you'll get there eventually, hang in there.
Later,
Jopanne,
Thank you very much for your time to listen and comment, the kind words were just the icing on the cake.
Later,
Peter,
