I grew up with them, used to catch small ones as a kid, still see them in our local river when kayaking and admire their place in nature....but I gotta say I never thought of them as "total relaxation" until I watched this vid. Mesmerizing.

Yes very relaxing and FWIW it looks like it was filmed where I grew up in South Louisiana.

Very enjoyable watch and listen!

Guenter,

A bit on the "tame" side for you... but I enjoyed the music, itself. Beautiful stuff. I assume you played the piano and strings? - nice. Great mixing in of the guitar and sax.

Not sure if I'd call it "alligator music", but it was delightful.

Music well done Guenther, video well done, but I can't help it - gators still give me the jeebies....eeewww. LOL!

Good luck on the mash up contest - hope you win. smile

Hi Guenter,

I found that the relaxing, soothing music allowed me to see alligators through new eyes. It was amazing. I've grown up thinking of these reptiles as cold-blooded, calculating killing machines. As I watched the video though, I swear I almost started to think of them as playful and vaguely cuddly. I surprised myself!

Good luck with the contest,
Noel

Well done, Guenter.

Plenty of gator round here – good eatin' too.

"Halapata”, the Seminole word for gator, or “Halapata Chobee “ for “Big Alligator” is central to the Seminole tribe's lifestyle.

Nice job! Sounds like a 30/40's big band playing the blues. Like the choice of muted trumpet, and the strings sit real nice in the mix.

Really captured my attention. Slinky.

Ein Video! Gefährliche Kreaturen schleichen träge, um den Klang der schönen romantischen Musik! Was wird Guenter nächsten zu schaffen? Und, eigentlich was ist die "mash-up Wettbewerb"?

Thank you, Alyn.

Hi Aleck,

vielen Dank!
Here is what the competition is about:

ARTE Creative presents five episodes of the 360 ° Geo series (each about 50 minutes long) with the invitation to video artists, VJs and graphic designers to generate their own clips using the TV episodes as raw material to create something new by artistical assembly, processing, removal and addition of music to the original material. The top five films will be selected by a jury and broadcast on ARTE.

Hi Guenter,

Interesting competition. I hope you're one of the winners.

Good Luck!

I started smiling 21 seconds in and never stopped. An alligator shaking her tail at me set to a jazz waltz - brilliant!

Hi Guenter,

Not as experimental as I've come to expect from you, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Very smooth production, but 'gators still give me the shivers!

I bet the view shown at 1:41 is the last thing a lot of shore birds ever witness on this planet.

Keep us posted on the competition!

Hi Pat,

in July it's finished.
I'm going to post.

is there a place online where the various submissions are viewable?
Posted By: boehm Re: Alligator - 06/01/13 04:40 PM
Yes. Here is the link:

I don't know if it works for you in the US.
There were problems in the past.

Guenter,

I've made this request to Aleck Rand, and now I'm asking you the same:

I'd like to hear a bit about how you appraoch these amazing projects of yours. What's first? Is there a specific method you follow, or is it completely driven by the moment's inspiration?

I realize I'm asking Houdini to divulge the secret of his magic, but I'm hoping you will offer a little information to the the people who are "WOWed" by your submissions

------
regarding the word WOWED:

If that's a real word, then you must be the wowER, and we must be the wowEEs

wink
------
PS--- the link DOES work! Thanks!

First is always finding the chord changes which sometimes takes a long time. The rest is inspiration. Some songs must simmer for some days until I get the next idea.
The Alligator song startet with the clip of the snake-like moving alligator measuring the time and thinking of a slow waltz.

It's a pity that this obsolete song has come up front somehow and my latest one (Don't hug me, I'm digital) has totally disappeared.

You probably already know this, but I'll say it anyway just in case.

placement in the list is determined completely by posting. Last thread to get a reply goes to the top, like bubbles in a pan of boiling water.

If you want to keep a post visible, make a new comment. Sometimes you see a thread with a comment that says nothing but "BUMP" ... someone did that to "BUMP" the post back to the top

I'll go right now and bump your other song because a surge in other songs did force it off the page prematurely

Dear Gunter !

That was very ambient, very smooth
music, something that might back up
soul dancing "when the lights are down low" smile
If one only listened to the music you
could be fooled to think you were heading
for a quiet romantic summer night´s swim ?:)
not anticipating that you in fact were moving
in lethally dangerous waters ? smile

The video certainly gave some thrilling
effect to the music !:)

Great stuff !:)

Cheers
Dani
