I wrote this some time back and just added the new vocal track today. (9-6-13)

Traditional country & western more than anything else.

WHERE DOES A COWBOY GO?

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12487034

Back in the early days when I was playing in a Honky-Tonk band we often played the cowboy joints in town and I got to know some of those guys pretty well. This is for them. They know who they are......

Composed in BB... transferred to Real Band.... mixed in Sonar

Tracks
1. Vocal
2. Drums by RB
3. Acoustic: Hank strumming RB
4. Piano : muted
5. Fiddle by RB
6. Steel 1 by RB
7. Steel 2 by RB
8. Bass frozen synth using Cakewalk Sound Center sampled bass Ricko
9. Midi bass track by BB
10. Piano frozen syhtn using Cakewalk Sound Center Steinburg Grand
11. Midi piano track by BB

That's the story and I'm sticking to it.

sounds good to me, Herb! Good lyrics, a great vocal, well done tracks and an overall excellent song!

Hey Herb,

Solid well written traditional country song with a touch of outlaw, big sound, and cool vocal.

Well done.

P.S. I do have one minor nit with the mix. It's noticeable on speakers and especially on my headphones that piano is too out front and distracting. Maybe it's just me. smile

"A TOUCH OF OUTLAW"

there's a good title for somebody's next song

Herb,

Nice. I found the piano distracting too, but more because of it's style - constantly hitting with the drum..

Everything about his songs works for me, especially the hook which is solid!

Nice job!

Hey, thanks all for listening and commenting.

Perhaps next week, when I have the time I will look into the nits. Thanks for your opinions on the mix and the song....

Happy trails to you.

FMM & Noel

Thanks for the listen and comments.

Quite a few people are commenting about the piano so..... Monday, I will set down and work on this.

I want to make some changes, so I will record a few new parts and make some level adjusts and some EQ adjusts and have the (hopefully) final finished version up late Monday. I'll let you all know when it is.

Thanks for the comments and feedback.

version 2 is up.

Lowered piano, added 2 taylor guitar tracks, eq on 2 tracks changed a bit and levels adjusted on envelopes and edited as well.

small lyric change

Now the piano is not the driver.... the twin acoustics are..... double tracked and panned....

Where does the cowboy go? Heck, where did traditional country go? Thanks for the reminder of what it's about -- thematically, vocally and instrumentally.

Janice & Bud: thanks.... I was raised on that kind of music and it's very easy to write it.

Dani, Josie, Mac, Jo: thanks for listening. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I almost didn't post this tune..... I didn't really think it was quite "good enough" to post.
Herb,

Loved it - really cool country song and sound. Very nice work!

Robert, OCC, & Floyd...

thanks... glad you enjoyed it.... I still have a few minor tweeks I want to do next time I'm on the DAW but for now, it's good. I like this version with the piano down and the guitars carrying the load.
