SLEDGE RIDE RACE (Music & Lyrics by Dani)

It keeps on snow-, snow-, snowing
we have to move these drifts that keep on growin´
so you just keep on shovelin´
or we´ll get stuck here, my good mate
and then we´ll be too late
that will decide our fate

You better get shov-, shov-, shovelin´
just get those big drifts movin´, arms a-goin´
the sweat keeps flow-, flow-, flowin
and snowflakes whirlin´all around
fillin´up the ground
as we are homeward bound

Yes it´s a winter scene
rarely seldom seen
but we are high up here
in the Northern Hemisphere
in a sledge ride race
with a frozen face
slowin´down our pace
by the drifts from the

snow-, snow-, snowing
we have to move these drifts that keep on growin´
so you just keep on shovelin´
or we´ll get stuck here, my good mate
and then we´ll be too late
that will decide our fate

….in this race

Hi Dani

Cool tune. Pun also intended :-). Your lyrics reminded me of what it is going to be like here in a very short while. Ice, snow and cold weather until April..

Well done

Hi Dani,

from the 'race' in the title I expected some wild song.
but it's a comfortable cruising. nice to listen to.
I would have liked it an octave higher though.

Thanx Scott !

Your kind comments are most welcome
and appreciated !:))
To be honest I do not have
the slightest idea where this
song popped up from ! I use to have
half prepared BIAB skeletons
waiting to get some flesh on, but
this came out of nowhere !!!
But you are right regarding the weather !
We are quite up here too and we are expecting
snow any day now down at Helsinki level !:))

Cheers

Hi, Guenter !

Thanks for your kind comments !
Wild yes, I guess my summer song
was a little more "wilder" but this
is the result of scouring the BIAB
styles and then suddenly stopping
at an interesting one ? Hard to
pass without trying to do something
around it ?

interesting song....

I think you should try raising the key a few whole steps to put it into a key where your vocal range sounds more comfortable. It sounds like you are down at the bottom of your vocal range...

just my 2 cents

Hi, Guitarhacker !:))

Thank you for your kind comment !
Yes I am down close to the bottom
of my range, but not uncomfortable
singing down there. In fact I am
a bass and should be able to go much
deeper still, but I will consider
your suggestion and if I get the
inspiration I might redo it in a higher
key !:)

Dani,

Interesting song. I would have thought you would double that vocal with another an octave higher - you have an amazing range. I thought the instrumentation was low compared to the vocal - it should sit back in it more. Just some simple suggestions. It amazes me that you can sing so well in a language other than your own...

Hi, Floyd !

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions !:))
I have barely three octaves counting the falsetto.
The second octave is not high and stable enough
for me to sing lead in a normal barbershop setting
so I have to stick either with the falsetto (tenor)
or bass !:)) As a result I usually have to drop
the key if I am to sing lead. I might redo this still,
if the spirit arises in me :))Floyd, I take your
language remark as a compliment. Would you believe
me if I´d say that over here one can learn english (american)
just by watching TV ? (chuckle) !:)) Naturally a native
immediately hears the different pronounciation. Maybe it also
helps that all one´s favourite songartists use american or english
and when you have sung their tunes from childhood days
it kinda makes it all a little easier ?

Cheers
Dani
