Hi All

Well this is (probably) the last song for an album "Always Here" that I am busy putting together. It is kinda like the woman's version of John Denver's "Back Home Again". Personally I am incredibly lucky to have my family around me but my heart goes out to all those who wait endlessly for their partners to come home, especially for those in the military.

The lyrics are on SoundCloud

Leave a Light On

Nice song and a good job.

I certainly got a Sheryl Crow vibe on the chorus. Especially that first line in the chorus.

The guitar tracks are really nice for this song.

Well done...

Josie C.,

I liked everything about it, from lyric to production and arrangement to performance.

Nice job.

Josie, I too, loved it. So topical. Many of my Aides, young women in their 20s and 30s, are waiting for their husbands to come home, to "hear their boots coming up the front porch." Sadly, many come home in body-bags.

The wives and sweethearts are heroes too! I remember those days so clearly. Listeners need reminding too. Your lyrics do that very adequately.

Joanne,

Loved it - this is my new favorite of your songs...

Joanne,

Great vocal on this one. I liked the song.
You list a piano in the RTs, but I could not hear it. Am I just missing it?

The guitars sound really good.

Herb, Danny and Dani, Guenter, Bob, Don and Floyd. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Guenter - the harmonies are generated by BIAB. Sometimes it works nicely (as I think it has in this song) and other times is sounds very mechanical. I haven’t figured out yet when it does what!

Floyd - something very strange is going on with my Real Band. I keep getting that empty piano track whenever I regenerate some other track. I didn’t notice it there when I cut and paste from the "notes".

PS What does the "Don’t be a DUMPER" byline on your signature mean

smile DUMPER is my term for the people who come in here (meaning the Showcase) and just DUMP their songs. They don't otherwise participate in the Showcase community by being a part of things other than their own song. Like they can't be bothered - but they want everyone to comment on their stuff. I think it is rude. They don't have to comment on everything. They needn't comment on mine or yours, etc., but pick a few here and there.... participate!

Tommy. Thanks for listening. I am glad you enjoyed the vocal. I must say it is getting easier.

Floyd - thanks for that. I thought it may be something to do with littering!!

Thoroughly enjoyed it Joanne.

BTW, glad you asked Floyd about "DUMPER" - I was wondering the same thing. smile

Nice!! We really enjoyed it. The production and mix is very supportive of the vocal.

I especially like the chord at the end of the verse, how it lifts the melody...

Oh so I picked up my guitar and played along and I think it's the second time the verse goes to "B" and it's a B major and my ear is anticipating a B minor...

I like that : )

I enjoyed the whole song

Noel, JosieB, Bud and Janice. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Lawrence, it is a nice guitar song and interesting chords. I am going to perform it with my guitar at the market today

Joanne,
Very nice song and sentiment. I know what you mean about the BIAB TCHelicon harmonies. I only rarely use them because of that odd muffled sound they often produce.
