This version is acoustic.....
SILENT NIGHT Real band tracks include
Fiddle
Steel Guitar
Drums
Bass
I'm playing guitars and mandolin.
This is another from last year.
Very cool version of the song. The lead sound like played on a Mandolin.
scott.... yep.
Verse 1 lead is a mando.
Verse 3 is an acoustic guitar that jams around the melody
Thank you for listening.
Hi Herb
this is such a versatile song.
A second unusual version (to UK ears at least) from you and one I can hear it being played just like that in thousands of Homes at Christmas time.
I enjoyed the vocal in Vs 2 and 4. Good harmonies too.
Nice impro for V3. Good to hear the "melody line" making an appearance here and there in it - thats how it should be.
Superb acapella finish - what a clever idea.
Excellent.
cheers
ian
Ian: thanks for the listen. I kinda liked the acapella finish too.
Herb,
I like everything about this one man!
Great Job!

Hi Herb,
another nice version.
Merry Christmas.

Herb this is a great version of Silent Night! I have never heard it done with this instrumentation before so this was a delight to my ears!
Great picking and singing BTW! Loved the ending, great job on that!
Merry Christmas
Hi, Herb !
I liked this quite different take
on the old classic. Especially I liked the
acappella part in the end ! Just great !
Cheers
Dani
.....and a Merry Christmas to you and your dearest too !!!
Thanks again.... I always love to hear Christmas tunes done up with traditional blue grass and acoustic instruments. So I thought I would do a few that way.
Glad you liked it.
This arrangement and performance... it sounds so real, I would never have guessed this was done with BIAB. It's amazing what you can do with BIAB.
Great performances. Thanks for posting

Although I have been working with BB/RB for 6 years or so, I am constantly amazed by what it can do. It gets better every year. I have people on other music & writer forums comment on my studio musicians all the time.
Thank you
Neat arrangement, if maybe a bit 'clustered' at times. You had some chord progressions in there I hadn't heard before and yet none of them felt off.
Pretty nice touch there with the ending, kept the interest all the way through
Icelander.... you are doing some research and digging for sure to have come upon this.....
It's almost time to dust this off once again for the upcoming holidays......
I enjoy the beauty of the music, so I will substitute chords and use things that others may not.
thanks for the listen.
Nice job Herb!! The playing is very soulful, and I feel fits the song great! You're no hacker! Take care. Greg
Hi Herb ...
You posted this before we got here. So glad Icelander brought it back for us. We loved everything about it. A new take on a classic ... takes courage to redo such a popular holiday standard. And you nailed it!
The simplicity of it is what struck us on first listen. Then we evaluated your choice of instruments and concluded you couldn't have made a better selection. Everything precisely compliments your arrangement.
Really super! Best to ya ...

Thanks for listening. I love acoustic instruments..... and this was right up my ally.... been loving this song since forever....
Glad you had a listen..... Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Herb,
This is the first time we hear your Silent Night. As far as we're concerned, keep it this way, so.... acoustic.
Beautiful mandolin and guitar and we like the acapella finish!
Regards,
Rob and Anne-Marie
