I wrote this one while driving past a Santa billboard during Christmas season I think it was 2009.

I just got my new BIAB 2014 and what a perfect time for the new New Orleans realtracks! The rhythm I had in mind as I wrote the song was closer to Professor Long Hair from "Big Chief part I", but these realtracks suit the tune just fine!

Christmas Town

Santa Claus, Papa Noel
That jolly fat man ringing his bell
This time of year, he's spreading cheer around
You can always find joy in Christmas town

Check out them lights, red green and white
Pass me that eggnog I'm feeling tight
Take that ol' from and turn it upside down
Ma Cher we makein some joy, down here in Christmas town

What I got here some mistletoe
Come on Charice mama let's go
Give me some sugar if you please right now
You got me smiling with joy in Christmas Town
I hear that sleigh and dos reindeer
That means one thing Santa is near
You best be good quit acting like a clown
Yeah days plenty of joy right here in Christmas Town

Hey Lawrence,

Now that sets the mood for not just a good time but a brilliant time!

As always, you've written a great piece of music, performed up a storm and produced a mix that sparkles with talent.

I was really wanting to hear more of this! It's such a feel-good, happy song. After that last break (starts somewhere around 1:55), why not repeat from "What I got here some mistletoe ..." The song would surely stand it! (As an aside, in his uptempo songs, Elvis was never backward about re-performing the whole song to extend its length.)

"Outstanding" is what's rattling around in my head as I'm typing this!

All the best,
Noel

Hi Lawrence,

I have to confess to not being a great fan of Christmas songs, but this is ONE BIG EXCEPTION. I guess it's because I AM a fan of Rock and Roll.

This is the sort of song which has everyone rushing to get on the dance floor and and I found I couldn't listen to it sitting down!

Really. really enjoyed that, thanks.

ROG.

Oh yeah, a rockin' Christmas song that doesn't have that contrived feel. A great vehicle for your voice and cool lyrics. This one is right dead center in our wheelhouse. Man, I hope the Mac 2014 will have those tracks. Great work!!!

Thank you everyone for stopping in to listen and comment!

The new realtracks are Fab, the new GUI is smooth, and BIAB has outdone itself with the 2014 upgrade!

Howdy Lawrence...

We've only been here a couple of days and still finding our way around. Nothin' wrong with a good, rockin' 12 bar Christmas blues!!! Probably got Jerry Lee wishing he was younger and still popular so he could so this one! Great song...we loved it! thanks for the musical treat!

I (Al) have written 2 songs who had their genesis on a billboard. In southern Missouri there was a billboard for a Southern Baptist Church saying something to the gist of come on down for some Southern hospitality and some great gospel music. I wrote a song called "Southern Gospitality". Another one was for a payday loan company. the sign said "We're not your genie in a bottle but we'll help you through the hard times". I wrote a song called "Jeannie In The Bottle"...typical country, crying in your beer song about a guy seeing his beloved but long gone Jeannie at the bottom of every bottle of Bud Lite. Inspiration can come from anywhere!

Anyway...nice song and delivery! Merry Christmas...

Lawrence,

You captured that South Louisa vibe ma man, as Russ often says "Good on you".

Merry Christmas,
