Without Ya Babe
© Emmrich 2014

(verse)
so folks ask me how you've been
I just don't know where to begin
it's been hard without ya babe
it's been hard without ya babe

(verse)
I think it's raining all the time
weatherman tells me it's sunshine
every day this week
well it seems mighty bleak

(bridge)
and the edges seem frayed
and I don't act sane
without ya babe

(instrumental break)

(verse)
many times I've been this way
but you were here to save the day
I’ve been lost without ya babe
I’ve been lost without ya babe

(bridge)
and the edges seem frayed
and I don't act sane
without ya babe

Kevin: acoustic guitar, vocals, slide
BIAB: bass, drums, piano, acoustic guitar

Loved that slide..... very cool.

This has a JJ Cale vibe to it.....

good job.... I need to get back to writing again.... been taking some time off.

Yeah, I picked JJ Cale also, it's a really great sound sound. Great Feel, Nice and laid back. Good one!

Hi Kevin...

Liked this one a lot!!!!

Yes, sometimes it works mixing the EVs and the SWs. Works great here.

Love the easy, casual feel to this one. I enjoy the song where the title is used in the verses and rather than a chorus, use a bridge instead. I have 2 or 3 like that. it's not that easy to do but the change is real nice when it's done correctly...like this.

And I agree with the others...J.J. Cale written all over it. Wouldn't that be nice!

Have fun at FAWN this year. I know how much you enjoy it. Will be waiting to hear more from you.

Best to you, my friend...

Kevin,

Really like this one! Simple and solid. Both the write and the production. You got that simple (Lumineers-like) production workin'.
The slide is cool (Sounds like a slide part that Neil Young would have played). And the last bridge has a real Stones feel to it. You've covered all the bases...

And topped it off with your own, very unique vocal style.

Nice.

Kevin, nice easy Americana vibe. The slide was a perfect compliment. Good vocal and mix. I enjoyed it. Tom

Yeah man, don't trust those weathermen when it comes to affairs of the heart! I gotta get on the ditto band wagon and completely agree with the Americana genre feel and the JJ groove. We really enjoyed this one.

Solid tune Kevin.

You also did one heck of a job arranging the real tracks man.

Oh yeah! There we go! Awesome song!

That's a hot mix dude! Loved the bass guitar, the harmony and all of the vocals!

Before I run out of exclamation points, let me just say !!!!!!

I appreciate all the listens and the kind comments. I'll try and do some listening -- but it's tough with all the FAWM stuff going on (and family, work, sleeping, eating,...). Sundance suggested I change seems frayed to feel frayed. Done! I'll update the demo later this month.

I like all the JJ, stones, lumineers and Graham Parsons references (maybe the Graham one was over at FAWM)

What can I say, it's all said above, great song, clean sound, very catchy :-)

(Is it all Biab?)

Hello PgFantastic, Noel, gruverider, Steve Mac, and stratocaster: Thanks for taking the time to listen, I appreciate it.

stratocaster: I am playing the on-going rhythm acoustic guitar plus the slide guitar solo. The rest (bass, drums and then acoustic guitar and piano during the bridges and outro are BIAB)

Kevin,

That was a song of 3 halves laugh
The verses, the slide solo and the Stones pastiche at the end. Really enjoyable.
