Hi,friends !:))

I felt I had to try a blues even if I know I don´t have
the voice of a real blues singer, but nonetheless, I still
miss my dear old Beni so it felt easy to write this song
out of my own experiences !:))

Lyrics:

Widower´s Blues (by Dani)

It´s been, some time now
since you had to leave
I´ve been busy runnin´with the flow
not allowing time to grieve
but, you know, when the evening comes
and the lights are down low
there´s no one wanna be in my shoes
singing the widower´s blues,
yes the widower´s blues

yes I´ve been, through the mill
many times I should be flour, but am still
in one piece, at least close to one
sittin´here gazing at the sun
but, you know, when the evening comes
and the lights are down low
there´s no one wanna be in my shoes
singin´ the widower´s blues,
yes the widower´s blues

I know they say that time heals everything
so that´s why I´m biding my time here and sing
singin´ along , singin’ the widowers blues

I can make it thru the day
hangin´around some harbor café
lookin´at people just for a while
one or two can even give me a smile
but, you know, when the evening comes
and the lights are down low
there´s no one wanna be in my shoes
singing the widower´s blues,
yes the widower´s blues

Hey Dani, I can't say "I feel your pain" because my "other half" is still with me after 45 years. I can only imagine how you must miss her. But I sure envy your ability to write this beautiful lyrics. Good song all around.
Later my friend.

Dani, your emotions shine through in both penning your lyrics and with your vocals. The lyrics are very touching and I can listen to your voice all day. Good job.

Charlie

Definitely a different turn for you Dani but you pulled it off nicely!! I like your voice on this-low and mellow. Keep up the great work. Take care. Greg

Nice and heartfelt and BLUES! Janice and I are all over the map musically but blues is our home base. Really cool to see you experimenting like this....and succeeding with it! Much enjoyed it.

Hi, Janice & Bud !

I feel humbled by your most kind
comment ! You are the masters of that
genré and I feel a little too light
with my all too mellow voice !:))
I did resing the tune and in doing so
I lifted it considerably as I think
the earlier version was just a bit too
murky

Cheers

I love the blues and man you did it justice on this one!

I can feel your pain and sadness! This is an excellent tribute to your wife!

Hi, Mario !

Thank you so much for
your most kind comments !:)
I had to resing the tune
as the earlier version was
just too low and the mix
did not reveal the words
well enough !:))

I really loved my wife.
She was in fact my first
love and I adored her
and still do so much !

Cheers

Another excellent tune Dani. Very sad and heartfelt. Excellent lyrics, singing and playing....

Dani....

That was certainly an interesting take on the blues. I'm not sure I'd place it into the category of the blues. At least not solidly. I heard certain aspects that were bluesy. Then there were other aspects to that song that I just don't know how I'd classify it.

I think of the blues as being mostly a 1,4,5 with the occasional 6m progression. And there are variations on that theme to be sure.... there are, for example, blues in minor keys as well as the traditional major 1,4,5.

Do you listen to the blues as defined by the blues players of the 50's and 60's.....? BB King, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Louis Armstrong, etc, or even the slightly more modern blues influenced masters such as Clapton, the Stones, SRV, Zepplin, even the Beatles? Listen to some of the early Led Zepplin stuff..... wow... some really interesting and cool blues coming out of that band back then.

When you call something blues, I'm expecting to hear the blues.

All in all, the song was pretty well done with the lyric & recording. Good job on that aspect. As far as being blues, I'm thinking it could have been a bit closer to the target than it was.

Dani,

This song is the very essence of the Blues. The Blues is about pain, loss, regret, and expressing those emotions.

It is not just a song form.

I hope that your pain lessens with each passing day. Music is the best therapy.

Bob

Hi Dani,

I like your new version of the song very much.
Like mentioned above it is not the standard blues pattern but it comes across very bluesy.
Very nice tribute.

My dear Herb !:))

Thank you so much for your most kind comments !
I completely agree with you, technically this
may not be a typical blues, but emotionally it is.
And, there are only 7th chords in the arrangement
after the intro !:)) I am not a blues singer, I know,
but somehow this tune wanted out !:))

Thank you Bob !:))

Am glad you felt the pain
behind the words, it was and
still is there and, my friend,
you are also right about time
being the only help in lessing
the pain, at least it is so
with me !

Cheers

It was so nice of you to
give me the good advice,
I thank you for that and for
your most kind comments too !
As has been noted, this may not
technically be a blues but
emotionally it definitely is !:))

Hi Dani.
This is certainly a departure from your normal but maybe it will become the new normal for you. I enjoyed it very much!

Those low notes are epic! You must miss her very very very much.

Hi, Jo !:))

Thank you dear Jo for your most kind comments !
I am afraid I am no blues singer, but as my
wife was special, I owed her this tribute
as so much more too !:))

Dani, As a lover of blues and pedal steel, I must say nice job of mixing two things that as a rule are not found together. Once again your chord progressions are unusual and interesting. Nice job on the lyrics. Your voice conveys a ton of emotion. Nicely done. Take care, Tom

You know I enjoy your singing Dani....

I listened the other day too, but couldn't put my thoughts into words:) Thanks to Tommy for saying it so well.

Hi, Tommy !:))

So nice that you liked my mixture !:))
I wanted to create a tune that for
sure no one else had created and
that is why the progression is unusual !:))

I do thank you, my friend, for your most
kind comments !:))

Dani,

"there´s no one wanna be in my shoes"

Loved that line - wraps up the blues nicely.

Cool sound on this. And very cool vocal.

Very blue.

Hi Dani ...

Great experiment with this approach to the Blues ... and it works perfectly!

We always await a great listening experience when we click onto one of your songs. Much like Kevin Emmerich, you always have sweet surprise waiting for us with your originality. We totally loved it! Nice way to remember your wife and share it with us.
