I wrote and recorded this one yesterday for Di. We recently got word our 20 year-old granddaughter has cancer and the out look isn't good. We're pretty shaken up right now and Di needed something comforting ... this is the best I can do with little to no time. Wrote it and recorded it all within 2 hours. The vocals are all one and done ... no time for redos. Will take a listen to you folks as we can ... will probably be kind of spotty with our appearances here for a while .... thanks for understanding. Anyway, this is what I gave her for comfort.

Come To Me Softly Tonight
(c) 2014 Alan D. David, BMI

(v1)
Come to me softly, let me feel you near
I'll say the things I know you love to hear
How much I need you, and you're my guiding light
Come to me softly tonight

(v2)
Come to me softly, let me kiss your lips
And feel the tingle, within your fingertips
You are the alter that makes my world so right
Come to me softly tonight

REFRAIN
You are the power that lifts me when I'm down
Without you I'm frail and weak
Before your love I was lost but now I'm found
Yes I am strong I'm no longer meek

(v3)
Come to me softly, let me feel your love
Your smile is softer than the cooing of the dove
When I'm confused you give me wisdom's sight
Come to me softly tonight

REFRAIN
You are the power that lifts me when I'm down
Without you I'm frail and weak
Before your love I was lost but now I'm found
Yes I am strong I'm no longer meek

(v3)
Come to me softly, let me feel your love
Your smile is softer than the cooing of the dove
When I'm confused you give me wisdom's sight
Come to me softly tonight
Come to me softly to night

Very pretty ballad! I like the relatively sparse piano/strings arrangement. Nice work, as usual! Take care. Greg

Hi Again, Greg!

I tried to keep it relatively simple for two reasons. First, I didn't want to steal away from the lyric with a bunch of fancy music. Second, my time is very limited right now. It took me about 45 minutes to write the lyric and the other approximate two hours was composing the music and recording everything.

So glad you liked it. Thanks for letting me know!

Al and Di,

Josie's words speak for me, as I'm sure they do for others as well.

Thanks so much, Gruverider...

Music is an tear, an inspiration, a joy and a comfort ... whatever we need it to be. We just have to be cognizant enough to realize what we need from it. Thanks for the kindness!

Hi Al and Di
sorry for being late - we have been dealing with s few issues here.
Val and I are so sad to hear about your grand daughter illness and struggle with cancer. However bleak the prospect, where there is Love, there is Hope. Whatever is in her future, with the love of her family around her, she will find the strength to fight it.
We shall say a special prayer today.

To the song - a beautiful song with wonderful words and the quiet voice makes it all the better. I couldnt help but think that with a very few changes to the words, what a superb Hymn it would make.
We are always here for you.
Best regards and hopes and wishes

Hi Ian,

The words from you and Val are very comforting, indeed. We appreciate your strong compassion and caring. Thank you so much. In fact, we will probably be moving in the near future to be close to her. her mother, Di's daughter, is, understandably, a total emotional wreck. We just feel they need us there with them. They live about 250 miles away. Here in the States, that's not that far away. And, we hope the issues you and Val are enduring come to the best possible resolve. And, we do appreciate the praters ... thank you again.

I thought the very same thing as you .. regarding the potential this has as a hymn with minor lyrical changes. we're thinking identically the same. After a while, I might look into to doing just that. I want to let this one run it's course at the various sites I've posted it. Then I'll start reworking it in that vein.

Thank you again. Best wishes and God Bless.
