Hi all,

Due to my spine problems you haven't heard anything new by me for several weeks. But I'm almost fit again.
This is the first time I didn't miss the deadline of a remix contest. This one closes on Sun 29 Jun 2014.
The song is by Danny Darko feat. Lulu Falemara.
Here is the original:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63ctTRI0gpY&feature=player_embedded

I tried a totally different style.
RTs used:
RealDrums-BluesRockShuffle^2-HHt,Ride
RT1583_ Bass, Electric, TexasBluesRockShuffle Sw
RT1584_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm TexasBluesRockSh
RT1585_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm TexasBluesRockS
RT1588_ Guitar, Electric, Soloist TexasBluesRoc

And here is my remix:

I hope you enjoy.

Guenter, I've just listened to the original and followed with listening to your version. You did a good job matching the original vocals into your music. Very ambitious attempt and I wish you best of luck in the contest.

Guenter,

Man! You've got that thang rockin'!!!!

You made me want to write something just so I could use those tracks. I don't think there could be a better compliment.... I want to copy what you did....and I'm not ashamed to admit that wink

I'm pressed for time, so I don't have time to listen to the others - but I want to... so I'll be back...

Excellent mix. Of course. Glad you are getting back in the saddle...

Ummmm. Wow. You nailed it with that urgent driving backing track. I had a flashback to Demolition Man by The Police. Very good work - Patrick

Ha, ha -- you sure took the backing in a whole 'nother direction! Very creative. I would even know how to start a project like that. You are quite the composer and arranger. Well done.

Very cool!! I really know nothing about the art of re-mixes but you totally changed the feel, and I like your version better! Really enjoyed the listen. Take care. Greg

PS Hope your back is doing better. I'm a physical therapist so I deal with back pain every day (sometimes my own as well).

Hi Guenter . You certainly injected some life into that song! Much more interesting than the original. Cheers.

Hello Guenter,

That's a very nice remix.
We understand this is for a contest.
Did you choose this song yourself or was it chosen for you?

Regards,

Guenter, Those are two totally different takes on the same song. I have to admit I like them both. Your version really rocks. You certainly seem to be able to find a vision and follow it through with amazing results. Good luck in the contest. Tom

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

thanks.
I chose it myself. I wouldn't work with it
if I didn't like it.

You did an awesome job mixing that rocking solo guitar with her vocal! Very clever adaptation of the original.

Guenter, a piece of advice for your back is try to get in the water and spend as much time there as possible. Walking in chest deep water is great for your back, or swimming if you're comfortable in the water (that's the thing that helps me most when my back is acting up). Even a Jacuzzi or deep bathtub is helpful. Icing is also a great help. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. Take care. Greg

Hi Greg,

thanks for your advice.
It's a pity that I'm too lazy to do
all that would be good for me.

Rock and Roll!!!

Yes, those are great RT's (we've used them several times) and yes this is a fine production and a great way to get back on your feet.

Hi Guenter,

This is amazing. To my ears, it was like 'funky jazz' meets 'rock and roll' - such a great groove.

As I'm sitting here typing, I find myself wondering how you manage to come up with such diverse arrangements. You seem to have an endless reservoir of musical experience to draw upon. Your arrangements (and compositions, for that matter) are always consistently creative, produced with surgical precision and uniquely individual.

I'm heading back to listen again, now.

All the best,
Noel

P.S. I hope your spine is feeling a bit better than it was. I wish you a speedy recovery smile

Hi Guenter, is good to hear that you're coming along fine. As far as the remix, I like it better than the original, I'm not much fan of electronic of club music. I've done some remixes before (a long time ago) and know that is not easy to come up with something really original, even though they give you all the parts of the song. This one it sure is original.

Happy recovery and good luck on the contest.

I must not have been watching the showcase in June when this song was posted... but HOLY COW!!

I was listening to other peoples' songs on Soundcloud and this song kept playing next, and I was thinking "Man that song is AWESOME, I've got to find out who did it..."

The funny thing is that I kept scrolling past your name because I just KNEW it wasn't going to be you... BUT IT WAS!!

This is further proof that you are talented in many different directions... who would ever guess that the same guy who created PIET also created this song?

Your music ability inspires a whole new word to describe it:

"AWESOEHM"

kinda reminds me of THIS SONG

Hi Guenter,

Great job with the remix. I could listen to that style of music all day long (unlike the original mix).
Clever how you got the vocals to work with the new backing.

I wasn't even aware of "remix contests" until I saw your previous post. The prizes certainly seem worthwhile. I wish you luck with your entry.

Also as a fellow back sufferer I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi Rec,

thanks for your kind words.
"The prizes certainly seem worthwhile."
I'm not interested in the prizes. It's just fun to work with the ideas and the vocals.
"I wish you luck with your entry."
The contest ended long time ago. But I'm happy with the song.
"Also as a fellow back sufferer I wish you a speedy recovery."
Thank you. At the moment everything is fine.
