Footprints in the rain

She came to the mountain by the Whangapeka valley
Seeking words of wisdom from wise seers
I ferried her from town in my old Bedford van
She had a special air that I could breathe

She was taken that I knew but all I liked to do
Was sit beside her in the still night air
She questioned words of wisdom with bright new eyes of wonder
And that wonder filled the space between the stars

How I missed her on the mountain and times triumphant wheel
Held my tongue as she moved on won't see her like a-gain
Rocky ranges all know what I feel

on lifes lilting stage she played a banjo with her beau
Standing firm eyes locked before the crowd
To nourish and sup-port she'd back his melo-dy
A tiny smile en-hanced their vibrant song

How I missed her on the mountain and times triumphant wheel
Held my tongue as she moved on won't see her like a-gain
Rocky ranges all know what I feel

The winter winds and snowy medi-tations cleared my head
At night I'd hear the clatter of small stones
Rolling down the river like crazy rattling bones
I knew the time was ripe for moving on

How I missed her on the mountain and times triumphant wheel
Held my tongue as she moved on won't see her like a-gain
Rocky ranges all know what I feel
And footprints vanish slowly in the rain
Footprints vanish slowly in the rain

Rich
The lyrics on this one are outstanding. Love "times triumphant wheel". Dont know what it means but know that I love it. That buzzy bass is something else. Had to fiddle around with my headphones to make sure they were plugged in properly! You certainly come up with the most amazing stuff.

Edited to add: I find your style very inspiring. It encourages me to be be more outgoing with my songwriting

As always, an interesting listen! Some great lyrical images. The music works for me but I would cut the sustained synth bass as it sounds staticy. Good work! Take care. Greg

I want to write lines like this when I grow up!

Another fine lyrical production from your amazingly consistent output. We much enjoyed it!!

Very original as always.

Hi Josie. I was caretaker at a meditation center at the time and had vaguely in mind the wheel of the dharma. And I do feel a little exposed with some songs. But what the hell. I've nothing to lose. Feel extremely flattered by your edit. Cheers.

Thanks for the comments Greg. The fiddle was to represent the female energy and the bass the male. Maybe a bit overdid. Cheers.

Thanks Bud and Janice. You give me a buzz. Cheers.

Thanks Guenter. Good to hear you liked it. Cheers.

Hi, Rich !

This was truly original indeed !
The positive rhytm and melody
skilfully hiding the pain behind those
wonderful lines !
Take care, my friend !

I LIKE THIS SONG! It's a lot more peppy than I thought it would be from reading the words. You don't hear many songs where the message is it's nice to be in someone's presence. It's a nice experience everyone has had but nobody ever mentions. You are very creative in your instrument choices but they work. I like how you added the banjo during the verse of her playing a banjo.

Thanks Dani. It was a bittersweet experience but one I wouldn't have missed for anything. Cheers.

Thanks Jim for listening and for your extremely supportive comments. Have met a few but not to many people I was content just to be with. Nothing to give nothing to receive just to be there. Delighted that you think the instruments work ok. Cheers.

Rich,

I had to chime in and comment on your lyrics... they contain so many interesting phrases, I won't even try to single any of them out for analysis... but I will say that the way you express ideas resonates with me.

Thanks Floyd. One more FAWM to go then I can start something new and will take more time about it. Cheers.

Thanks Pat. It's good to know i'm on or near someones wavelength as i sometimes wonder... Cheers.

I liked the lyrics, the backing tracks and vocals.

I do think that I would have liked it much better with a different bass sound. That distorted buzzy bass just didn't do it for me, but that is just my opinion and others will probably not agree!

This is a very original, clever and interesting song, great job on that.

Thanks Mario for the honest opinion. It's much appreciated. I think others will agree with you. Don't know why I like that bass so much but i do. In the car with it up loud the fillings almost rattle out of my teeth. Cheers.

Hi Pat. I tried several times over the last couple of years to post one and finally got the hang of it. Slow learner. Cheers.

Richard, A very enjoyable listen. The lyrics are like listening to a great storyteller. I think the buzz bass detracts from the overall feel. Another good one. Tom
