Hello everyone,

Our new song:

Out on the street

Many years ago, about 1994, Rob met this homeless man who told him his story. This led him to write this song .
Originally composed on a Roland E-10 Keyboard. This is the new Band in a Box R & AM version (the original intro samples were kept intact).
It took a while to get the right soloist for this song. Brent Mason (who else :-) ) turned out to be the best.
The video might struck you as kind of gloomy, but we think it suits the song quite well.

Any comments are welcome.

lyrics:

out on the street
there's a ragged man I wanted to meet
he said I'll find a way to make you see
my way of life it worries me

I myself I wander about
and see the people I must do without
you know I'd cry a tear or two
considering the things they do

and though I take good care
no one seems to want me there
there's a way to forget
the wicked things that people said

in a way I'm glad you see
as I roam around in my fantasy
and there's a lot of friends I meet
though they remain in my reality

the reason I go on you see
is a need to find some harmony
I can't live feeling all I do
is what the people want me to

and though I take good care
no one seems to want me there
there's a way to forget
the wicked things that people said

Hi there Rob and Anne-Marie.

Wonderful song with the feel of a 60s folk/protest song, the sort of thing Leonard Cohen might have written.

Lovely arrangement and production of both the track and the video.

Vocals and harmony were excellent. I can't believe how you manage to do all this not in your native language. It's hard enough for us native English speakers. All credit to you.

Really great stuff!! Music works perfectly with all parts fitting together in a sweet and seamless fashion. I love the musical change that occurs as the chorus begins. I think we have another gem! Take care. Greg

Thanks, Pg, Rog, Greg, Charlie, Josie, Guenter, Bob, Lawrence, Dani and RichMac for your kind responses.
Some of you were referring to Leonard Cohen. We are big fans and it so happens we have some Cohen covers on our website.
So.... feel free to check them out.

Rob and Anne-Marie...

A terrific mix of instruments and wonderful arrangement.

Beautiful vocals and harmonies, as always. An excellent mix.

And a beautiful song. The verses had a bit of a "Harry Chapin flavor" which was perfect for the storyline.

A very enjoyable listen.

Rob and Anne-Marie...

A real professional studio sounding recording including vocal harmonizing.

All Band in a Box ( with the exception of the vocals ) ???

Enjoyed your performance and the musical mood albeit dark it set.

Hello Janice and Bud,

thank you! Yes, writing lyrics was much easier in those days, I was a lot younger then.
And now, with BIAB, so many songs, so many arrangements, so much possibilities. It's hard to keep track with decent lyrics....

Rob
