Its Time (the Last Farewell) with Cheryl Teal

Hi All
I haven't been writing much lately. This StreetJelly thing is eating up all my spare time! A musician called Cheryl Teal came across my original music on Soundcloud and asked if she could perform "Its Time". I said sure. We have become firm cyber friends and this resulted in this cyber-collaboration on the song. Most of you will have heard the song before but Cheryl's beautiful voice puts such a different spin on it that you may want to take another listen.

Tracks are as follow:
RealTracks in style: ~700:Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesPush Ev 085

Very pretty!! I'm not sure if I have heard the song. It's very sweet. Your voices work well together. I love the fiddle too, and the video. Great work!! Take care. Greg

Hi Joanne. A lovely strong song and well sung. Enjoyed the video, both voices and the violin. Cheers.

Hi Josie,

your voices chime together so well.
Cheryl is an enrichment for your song.
Liked the video, too.

Joanne,

Nicely done.

The video is cool. I thought you should have been in the forefront for that first verse and have Cheryl be "translucelent" and then swap that around later... and.. how about having one of your kids playing fiddle (faking, of course) off to the side and back and more translucent ( like Cheryl's harmony image)...and turn that on and off as the fiddle plays... smile

Enjoyed it.

Very nice Joanne! Isn't it fun when voices
blend together well? Adds another whole
perspective to a production. Cyber collabs
are great -- so cool we have the technology
to do it. Your mix is nice and airy (I use that
a lot -- hope it expresses what I'm saying)
and as mentioned the fiddle works very well.

We enjoyed the listen and the view!

WOW! This is one super collaboration!

You voices blend so well together! That coupled with the fact that you have an outstanding backing track equals one super performance!

The vid was also very good.

You two should do more together!

Joanne, Great collar. A fine mix that captures the blend of the vocals. The fiddle was a good choice. Very nice overall. I enjoyed it. Tom
Greg - This was the first song I posted to the forum in about November 2012 when I purchased BIAB.

Robert, Josie, Charlie, Guenter, Tommy , Patrick, Rich, Bud and Janice, Mario and Alyn – Thanks so much for giving the song another listen. Cheryl has such a beautiful voice. Thanks for the thumbs up on the fiddle.

Floyd – I did have plans to do something along the lines of changing the focus from me to Cheryl in each of the two versus. However, I messed about so long with the video that in the end I just thought “that’s it, I’ve had enough of this now!” The problem was trying to get rid of the vertical lines (because I was trying to transpose my image on the left and Cheryl’s image on the right) and also trying to synch up the video with the track sound. Trying to match the colours and hues of the two videos was also a pain in the butt! My computer doesn’t handle big video files very well. In retrospect I should just have got both videos reshot on a plain white background. It is so interesting making these videos though because just like BIAB you learn each and every time. Btw..having my children in the video (and maybe even the dog) is a great idea. You always see children and dogs on those videos that go viral! Will definitely be doing that in my next one.

Your voices sound wonderful together! Great song! And my boss walked while I was listening and she liked it too!
Hi Lawrence and Dani
Thanks for giving the video a whirl. Glad you like it. Btw there is another original on the way! Very excited. Cheryl has applied her talents in putting music to a set of my lyrics that I was battling with. That should be out soon.

Hi Joanne,

This is spectacular. On every possible level, you have created a work of art that shines with professionalism. You and Cheryl sound incredibly good together.

Just "Wow!"

All the best,
Noel
Nice collab. The internet makes so many more things possible these days that would never have happened in any other way.

I enjoyed the song. Good sound on the guitar real tracks and the vox were nice. Excellent job on the harmonies.

The video was not ready yet. As Floyd pointed out....and sync issues.

I switched away from the vid and let the music play and browsed some of the comments. Music gets a thumbs up... video.... not so much.

Hello Josie,

I'm hearing this song for the first time, and I have to say I really like it! A very nice close harmony sound, and also a very nice video.
A small tip: Cheryl's voice could be mixed in slightly louder in the verses
Are you doing any additional acoustic guitar strumming in this recording, or is it just the Strumming Spirited real track?

Regards,
Rob

Wow, cool story re: the cyber collab. Especially liked the harmonies.
Hi Noel – thanks for your kind commtnts. I, for one, have missed them. It is so nice to have you back on the forum.

Herb – Thanks for your comments. I might remake the video at some stage.

Hi Rob. The guitar is all real tracks. Although I do play guitar it never comes out as clean sounding as the real tracks. I really do need some guitar lessons!

Frank – This forum, soundcloud and streetjelly have been incredible online resources for my music. (Youtube and facebook also right up there). I am hoping to put up another couple of originals that Chery and I have been working on shortly.

Josie & Cheryl ...

We never heard the original as we've been members here but a few months. But this cut was a real pleasure! Our ears are still smiling! The harmony was fantastic and the song itself is wonderful. We enjoyed our listen a lot. We've done many on-line collabs, over the years, with folks we've never met. It''s usually a lot of fun and a learning experience in many ways.

Kudos to both of you ... lovely song and performance!
