We hope you like our new song:
Overs & Dones Rob wrote Overs & Dones on his ukulele. But with real tracks it sounds much better.
A slightly sad song about a broken relationship, hhmm yes I know, his favorite song subject
(I recently wrote a song on a totally different subject
we'll be posting it when the holidays are over).
Style: _banfolk 16th acoustic folk
Used real tracks:
1765 guitar high strung acoustic fingerpick.pop 16th ev 16
2265 synth bellpad rhythm 80s pop melodic ev 085
518 bass electric pop halfnotes ev 085
lyrics:
Overs & Dones
Overs & Dones
getting clearer, nowhere runs
any words left to say,
will no longer come into play
and then I realize
this means so much more than saying,
goodbye
new lies told today,
seemed never ever too far away
and our license to love,
may not have been given from above
and then I realize,
this must have been our final try
and then I realize,
this must've been our final try
and then I come to find,
this means so much more than saying
goodbye
regards,
Anne-Marie
The track is nice and fits the sentiment. Haunting like some early Simon and Garfunkel stuff. Still, maybe post the ukulele version as a bonus track? I'd love to here it too.
This is beautiful work, love ya'lls harmonies and both of your vocals are excellent; thanks for sharing!
Hi Patrick,
thanks for your nice comments!
Here is the link to the original ukulele version:
Overs & Dones ukulele version make sure to turn up the volume a bit, I re-uploaded it, the initial version gave a distorted sound.

Rob
Hi PgFantastic,
thank you for your positive comment!
Keeps us going.

Really pretty song!! You frequently have the coolest changes from verse to chorus which are not conventional but work perfectly. Great use of real tracks, beautiful harmonies, and I love the weigh the bell pad (whatever the name was) fit! Excellent work....again! Take care. Greg
Wow, that was great as well. The Uke and vocals and space you created. Very nice. Thanks so much for uploading.
Both of the versions are very good. I like the mood with the ukulele, very intimate. Good production with the real tracks. I always enjoy your songs.
Charlie
A haunting, beautiful song, says everything in 2.18
both voices are excellent.
I too see the haunting Simon and Garfunkel reference and it is
difficult to chose between both versions, I like both equally.
Alyn
Very pleasant and I think a bit bluesy. Great vocals.
Loved the uke version. Cheers.
Rob and Anne-Marie,
Beautiful song. Beautifully sung. Beautifully produced - nice and clean.
My favorite of yours (so far). Love the lyric - simple, emotional..lyrical.
The mix is excellent. As nice to hear a bass line so crisp and so much a part of the song. The bell pad is a nice choice.
I could play both videos - but I do appreciate that you added the soundcloud link - (it has a better sound than the video).

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,
a really beautiful song.
Well produced.
Your voices blend in with each other very nicely.
Guenter
Very beautiful vocals. Love it!
R& AM, Beautifully written, produced and performed. Loved Ann-Marie's vocals. I also liked the bell pad. Really good stuff. Tom
Beautiful song! My ear gravitates to the Em version a bit more than the Fm, and you have the uke sounding magical.
much enjoyed! and wonderful harmonies!
Thank you Greg,
yes, the bellpad is very useful for all kinds of songs, you can get some subtle background "tapestry" with it.

Thank you Charlie, once again appreciated!

Rob
Hi Alyn,
being compared to Simon and Garfunkel (of which I've always been a true fan) is an honor.
Thank you!

Rob
Hi Richmac,
Bluesy? You're to first to ever call one of our songs bluesy, haha. Although the song's subject definitely is bluesy. Thanks for your nice comment!
Regards,
Rob
Wow - beautiful. floyd nailed our sentiments:
"Beautiful song. Beautifully sung. Beautifully produced - nice and clean.
My favorite of yours (so far). Love the lyric - simple, emotional..lyrical."
WTG!
Hi Floyd,
Thanks! Yes, at first I only wanted to use the high strung fingerpicking real track, but it had too little emphasis on every first beat. The track needed a bass guitar real track, which I gave some more high frequencies with the mixer settings (+8).
From now on we'll also post our new songs on soundcloud. We always mixdown our songs in 32 bit/96.000 khz format. On youtube the quality really degrades. On soundcloud they sound much better. Although I'm not sure if they use any form of compression also (songs are being processed after uploading).
Regards,
Rob
Thanks Guenter,
Your kind comments are always appreciated!

Thank you Josie for your nice comment!

Thank you Tom,
As always appreciated!
The bellpad realtrack works pretty nice here. I think it's one of the most functional 'keyboard' realtracks in the program. Works in all kinds of songs.

Rob
Thanks Lawrence,
The original version was played on a ukulele of 40 bucks. It was the first one I bought, later on I got a better one. But anyway, it works great to get inspiration for new songs.
Standard guitar chords sound much more mysterious and more spacey on the ukulele.

Rob
Thank you Janice and Bud,
much appreciated!

Hi, Rob and Anne-Marie !
This is a very impressive
production in every aspect !:))
Professional, not to say !!!
Cheers
Dani
Hi Rob & Anne-Marie,
well, everyone has already said what we had in mind as we listened. After just a few seconds, Di and I looked at each and we said "Simon and Garfunkel" simultaneously. You always get such a clear, crisp sound with your tracks. You write, perform and mix with excellence. Listening to your music is always a true pleasure. You have wonderful vocal delivery, excellent production and a fresh and creative sound. We know we will always get a musical treat when we click onto your music. We waited in anticipation for the latest ear candy from you two.
Uh, in case you didn't get the idea ... we really liked it! Wishing you both well,
Alan & Di
Hello Dani, thanks for your very nice comments, they are always appreciated!

Rob
Hello Alan & Di,
These are the kind of responses that really keeps us going!
Personally I have always been influenced by the songwriting of Paul Simon, especially in his early days. The guitar chords, lyrics and the beautiful vocals are timeless.
Another really big inspiration for the both of us, certainly when it comes to choirs and backing vocals is Queen. The same goes for the entire sound of their final mixes.
For us it's always a challenge to get the most out of our recordings. This takes a lot of work. In my case it is quite challenging because I have very severe RSI problems. Luckily we can work quite well together and wherever possible Anne-Marie does the 'physical' computer work.
Well, you won't have to wait very long for a new recording. Later on tonight (European time) I'm posting a song in my native (Dutch) language.
Thanks as always.
Regards,
Rob
hi guys great production everything thanks for sharing eric
Hi Anne-Marie and Rob,
What a terrific listen! I love the minor mode you've used. One thought that kept on appearing in my mind as I listened was "there's a great deal of musical skill behind this song." It's a credit to you both!
All the best,
Noel
Hi FMM,
Thank you so much for your kind response.
