This one of the first 4 or 5 songs we recorded when we originally got BIAB in late 2011. We've been told it has Lou Ralls or Barry White sound to it. That works for us! We don't have the Real Tracks list any more as it was one of a dozen or so in folder that disappeared after a computer crash. Actually the folder exists, but it's corrupted and we can't access the contents. Anyway, we'll try to find the style we used and post it if we do.

Thanks in advance for the visits and any comments you might care to leave. Wishing everyone well ...

Alan & Di

I think this is the style we used:

Key=Eb , Tempo 100, Length (m:s)=4:09
4 bar intro, 32 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 36. Repeat x3 choruses
No Melody
Soloist track has 890 notes, Soloist harmony is < no harmony >(0)
Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Song is saved with bar changes for Volume Changes,
Style is NITELIFE.STY (Nite Life - Pop Rock St.8)
Style MIDI Instruments are : Electric Piano (5), Strings (49),

There Ain’t No Way
© 2011 Alan D. David, BMI / Diana Bowers, BMI – All Rights Reserved

(v1)
You never ask, but I know you have to wonder
If you’ll always be my heart’s only hunger
Well, don’t you worry, you’ll never have to grieve
You’re everything that I could ever need
When I’m feeling down, you’re my inspiration
When all is lost, you’re love is my salvation
I’ll never leave you, girl, there ain’t no way

(v2)
We both know, sometimes my eyes are lookin’
It’s nothing more, there ain’t nothing cookin’
Baby I know where my bread is buttered
My heart is locked, shackled up and shuttered
You’ll never have, to wonder bout me Baby
My love is real, ain’t no place for maybe
Girl I’ll never be untrue, there ain’t no way

CHORUS

Don’t you worry Honey, I’ll always be your man
If nothin’ else, I hope you understand
I ain’t goin’ nowhere, ain’t gonna play
No, there ain’t no way

INSTRUMENTAL

(v3)
Our love is Heaven, and you’re a perfect angel
Girl you’re so lovely, I wouldn’t want to change you
There’s not a thing, I need that you can’t give me
The love we share, is real not fake or glitzy
Oh it’s for real, no lies or pretensions
You always prove, the best of your intentions
So if you ever ask, there ain’t no way

REPEAT CHORUS

Hi Alan and Di,

Very nice! It would fit right in to a 70's tv series or movie. Very Retro (your vocal reminds Anne-Marie of Louis Armstrong and the song Swingdance in Jungle Book)).
The sax soloist works very well here.
Listening to this, your next recording could be a real disco song wink We're looking forward to it.

Regards,
R & AM

Very cool song!! Can really see the Lou Rawls comparison. He could have nailed this. Great work! Take care. Greg

I agree this would be great for Lou Rawls. But like Ann-Marie, I could hear a little Louis Armstrong vibe going.

Great job on this one.

Hi Alan and Di. Found this very smooth and sophisticated. Like a classy nightclub. Super clear vocal. Cheers.

"Baby I know where my bread is buttered
My heart is locked, shackled up and shuttered"

Nice, guys.

Great rhythm to this. Couldn't sit still listening. Chair dancing.

Nice production and mix. An enjoyable listen.

Great "throwback" sound! And your vocals and the saxophone are just right!

much enjoyed!

I like the relaxed vocal style in between talking and singing.
My flares are on, but they are a bit too tight to allow movement!

Wonderful song
enjoyed

Alan, I can hear the Lou Rawls thing going on. The sax is a perfect fit. Pretty citified for a country boy. You do this genre very well. Well written and arranged. Good job. Tom

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the listen and the very kind comments ... much appreciated!

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

So glad you liked this one. Actually, we wrote it for a submission to be used by a movie set in 1978. But, the submission window closed before we could finish the song. We found out about the opportunity at the last minute. So, your characterization of it as a 1970's throwback was spot on!

We've not attempted to do a true Disco song ... something to think about as Di sings that genre exceptionally well.

Thanks for the very nice comments!

Greg,

Thanks for dropping in for a listen. And yeah, we can hear Mr. Rawls singing it. To bad he's no longer with us. He was a terrific talent. Thanks for the very kind words!

Charlie,

So glad you enjoyed it ... thanks for letting us know! Lou Rawls or Louis Armstrong ... yeah, that would work! Thanks again!

Will be back in a while to answer everyone else. We're in the process of moving out of state and are very, very busy. We're doing it ourselves and we're almost 70 years old ... too much work for old farts like us! See ya'll in a while!

Also, if you folks don't mind, we might post a couple of songs close together because we may not get a chance to post again for a few weeks. We don't want to hog the board, though.

If you played this in a lounge near us we would be there every weekend!

Super mix, vocal and chord progression.

This is a keeper!

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your kindness! I've played more than a few night clubs ... not so sure how classy a few of them were! We appreciate your nice comments.

Hi Floyd,

Yeah, that chair dancing can be hard to stop sometimes. It looks real nice when Di does it ... not so nice when I do it!

Glad you liked that couplet. Actually, we debated whether to use it or not. Glad we did! We appreciate your kind words and encouragement.

Glad you liked that "throwback" sound! What Di and I like about it is it was very melodious where so many songs these days are beat oriented. e understand and accept that music changes with society, but that doesn't stop us from still emjoying the "throwback" stuff! Glad you liked it!

Hi Alyn,

Thanks for the compliments! Di and I are almost 70 years old and our flares don't get us to move too much anymore! But, it hasn't hurt her singing and I'm still half-way decent, I guess.

Glad you enjoyed your listen!

Hi Tom!

Yep, I'm a country boy, but I've always enjoyed almost every genre of music. Glad this one works for you. And yes, we were real happy with how the sax came out. Thanks again!

If we find that lounge, we'll be there ... And we'll be looking for yas! So glad you enjoyed it. It's one of our favorite genres. Thanks so much!

As another guy who most assuredly knows where his bread is buttered and has appreciated it for 34 years...I (we) really enjoyed this song. Throw some talent at BIAB and wondrous things happen. Like a retro vibe cool song that sounds like it was done in a big time studio. You absolutely nailed the whole feel. More!

Hi Alan,

Very cool song! As mentioned above I also like the vocals that come frome the heart.
