Hi

This is the first song I've posted to the showcase. It was recorded and mixed using Powertracks with my guitar teacher who is a regular user of the forum by the name of ROG. It evolved over time from a chord sequence in a backing track to the full song we have here.

Guitar and vocals is myself, bass, drums and keyboards were taken care of by ROG.

Hope you like it!

Trip of a Lifetime

I lie by your side
And deep down inside
There's nowhere to hide
My feelings on show
You already know
There's nowhere to go

It could have turned into the trip of a lifetime
Sail away under starry skies
Instead it turned out it was time to say goodbye

The look in your eyes
Blows your disguise
There's no second prize
Everyone knows
It's time to let go
Get on with the show

It could have turned into the trip of a lifetime
Sail away under starry skies
Instead it turned out it was time to say goodbye

When the sky's fallen down
And the stars are all in pieces on the ground
Then they'll all stand around

With the tears blown away
My brave face it won't betray
How I'm hanging in there, living day by day

Jimmy,

Welcome! Terrific first post.

If ROG taught you to play guitar like that, I may have to sign up myself! NICE lead work! Super cool vocals, too.

A cool pop/rock song.

Very cool. Nice change-ups in the tune. +1 to comments on vocal and guitar work. Kinda reminds me of David Gilmore in your phrasing

Jimmy,

ee by gum!! ROG is the George Martin of Yorkshire. grin
What a nice song that in places reminded me of the 80's band "Haircut 100" with you on guitar!

Welcome aboard! Great guitar work!! The vocals bring across a British invasion feel, which is my favorite rock era. And, I love that huge snare sound. Very cool all the way around!! Take care. Greg

Hi Jim.

Nice to see your first song on the forum.

As others have said, the guitar work is excellent, but one of things I like best is the way the backing vocals work in the slower second section. The tracked-up chorus vocals underpinning the high solo voice works really well and it's not easy to do. I know you put a lot of work into that.

All in all, a great song, particularly for a first post.
