Hi Charlie ...

We like it! Sometimes those old ones just need a little dusting off and some polish. This one shines real nice!

I (Alan) wrote my first song in 1978. I've performed at gigs for years but have never recorded it. It's pretty dated bit might record it any way one of these days.

Nice mix and performance. Terrific job! Hope your weekend is a really good one ...

Such a smooth groove this one!
Makes me think of several bands of the 70s.
The harmonies are done nicely and subtle.
I would like to see more of these kinds of songs coming!

Regards,
Rob

PGFantastic: Thanks for listening and see my comment to gibson regarding the lead guitar.

gibson: Thanks for your kind comments. I don't play solo's very often but if I did, that is how I would sound. (joke) The lead is #576 Guitar, Electric, Soloist Blues BB Ev 085 which originally created a rather repetitive riff. I liked the tone and experimented and found that by changing the last chord from the root (G) to a (D) Biab generated a more pleasing and varied solo before circling back to the repetitive riff near the end of the solo. The same for the outro. 41 year old song - this song is included with several other songs I did jamming with my late brother back in the 80's. Been having a great time experimenting with the old tapes and Biab trying to revive and update them.

Al & Di: Thanks for listening. Dust off your old one. Would love to hear it.

R & AM: This is definitely a '70s song. This is the Audio Chord Wizard result scanned off the original performance with my brother Harold. My intention was to apply some of the suggestions I've received from forum members on improving my earlier submission, "Rhonda and Johnny". I planned to double my vocals over the original and add some midi instruments that could be easily modified to adapt to the variances in timing of the original. In the original, I played a rather odd strumming rhythm and also the rhythm follows the vocals rather than me maintaining a consistent rhythm guitar. No problem for Harold playing live, but if even possible, would be rather tedious work with computer generated audio that is consistently in tempo. Thus, a new version based on the ACW tempo map and chord chart. I'm having way too much fun re-living my past merged with my present - so, I'm sure there are a few more of these songs hopefully the forum will tolerate. Thanks for stopping by for a listen.

Hi Charlie,

"I'm having way too much fun re-living my past merged with my present"
It was fun for me, too.
"so, I'm sure there are a few more of these songs hopefully the forum will tolerate."
At least I do.
Very enjoyable listen.

Charlie,

Nice job on that. An enjoyable listen.

It's great that you are bringing these "out of the past". I've probably said 1000 times - man! I wish I had this BIAB 20 years ago!

The harmonies work - I wanted there to be more.. I would pull the guitars down just a little to give the vocal a bit more presence. The little bit of horns worked, too....

Keep 'em coming!

Really nicely done!! Love the vibe, love the vocal! Sounds a bit like the Dead. I love the simple, honest, organic feel of this. Excellent job!! Take care. Greg

Guenter: Thanks for the really nice comments. Much appreciated.

Floyd: Thanks for listening. I had an early Dos version of Biab, but it was nothing close to what it is today. I wish more that I had used metronome or click track or at least better strumming rhythm guitar pattern.

Greg: I appreciate you taking time to listen and comment. These tracks have been like finding a time capsule.

Charlie,
Well done. Thanks for sharing.
I guess I wrote my first song in '75. It was terrible. The second one, however, was not bad. I'm thinking of updating it and recording it. Well see.

Hey SpaceDog,
thanks for posting. I've got you a few years on the first song write. It was terrible too. My actual first song has an asterisk. I was only six! I count it but include the asterisk because it actually was copyrighted. We visited a cousin of my Mom who was a songwriter. Sometime during the visit, I explained I too was a songwriter. Johnny Horton had a hit song on the radio at the time called Springtime in Alaska. It was my favorite. So... I hummed and sang my made up on the spot "Summer in Alaska" for him. A few weeks after returning home from our visit a large manila envelope arrived in the mail with a lead sheet and real copyright of "Summer in Alaska" in my name. I took a break for the next 12-15 years before writing again and did not copyright a song until 1975.

Nice one to dust off. I'd love to revisit some of our stuff from 30+ years ago but doubt I could ever sync it.
I'd have to start over like you did.....but I'm lazy!

Nice choice of RT's and mix supporting good vocals. Enjoyed it

Hi Janice and Bud. Yes, it's been a lot of fun re-visiting these. In a way, it's like your friend Randy or my brother Harold can be more than just memories. Hearing the songs bring back some of the talking, laughter and awe, respect for the talent.

I found the hardest part with syncing is where the music follows the vocals rather than maintaining a steady rhythm. It didn't matter back then but it's like the old saying, I wish I'd known back then what technology is capable today.

Thanks for stopping by to listen.
