A random line in another thread reminded my pal Eddie about this song, which he wrote some time ago and foolishly gave us a free hand to interpret it as we liked!

It's a great track from Eddie and we had a ball doing a Beach Boys style version. (It was originally a country demo from Ed.)

Some of you may remember it from the first time around, but then again, it may be new to others.

GOOD THINGS COME (to those who wait)

Pretty much the whole team here in York had a hand in this, so credit to them all and many thanks to Eddie for the excellent song. (I think I owe you a few emails Ed.)

Hey Rog and team.. that songs is a veritable time machine.. I felt like taking my shoes off and starting to dance on a gymnasium floor!

I'm curious to hear Eddie's response to his country song turned into a different genre. Will he think good things came because he waited?

Hi ROG, good effort by the team. The song didn't really hit its Beach Boys stride for me until about the 1:36 mark when the layered harmonies began and the opening guitar would have sounded more like the Beach Boy sound at a higher octave, and their signature Strat sound.

I also think the Beach Boys would have layered harmonies over the fairly long intro. Please don't think I'm being critical of your arrangement, the team did a great job on getting the feel and did a super job on the harmonies. So good, I just wanted to hear more of them and sooner in the mix.

They left no doubt they can pull it off. I enjoyed the song and I'm sure I'll go back for several more listens.

Thanks Charlie.

I must admit that when we started out with this song the Beach Boys thing hadn't really dawned on us. As the harmonies built up, we got the idea that we could pile a few more on and head off down the Beach Boys route. We enjoyed this track so much, that it spawned another song written jointly by the whole team, including Eddie, which has even more of the BB flavour right from the start.

Maybe I'll re-post that as well if enough people want to hear it.

Hi Pat.

Yeah, the dances were all in the Gym, weren't they? We played at several of them.

And there's nothing quite like gymnasium acoustics, is there? AAARGH.

Well, as a guy who graduated from high school in 1963 and owned a surfboard...suffice it to say I've listened to my fair share of the BB's! What I'm hearing is not a BB style song per se but rather lots of hints of the BB's in a cool 60's top hits radio song. Sounds like a lot of effort was put into this and it paid off. Hats off to all and the vocals were really standout. The production captures the feel of the period very well and created a very enjoyable listen for the two of us.

Nice!

ROG and Team...

A nice job all around. Has a sound/feel of a song that you've known your whole life.

I think your singer deserves a mention. He did a good job. The girls - always sound good... I did miss a few words - even with several listens.

Loved the opening guitar. I was a little disappointed to not hear it played under the chorus - I think it would have worked nicely there. And I wanted a little more snap to that snare - but I always do... Mainly because, although there is that BB harmony thing going on, this reminded me of Springsteen - in a very good way - when he does songs that sound like his roots (Hungry Heart) - and the more I listened, the more I wanted it to go that direction - exactly what it is, but with a little more "edge".

Y'all are a good team. And you do good music. And, it's always FUN.

I loved the BB's thang! Great memories, Rog and crew.

Sundance had told me that the girls did fabulous harmonies. I am thoroughly convinced after hearing this song so beautifully done.

Eddie did a great "write" also. Well done, Eddie!

The overall production and engineering are top shelf as well, Roger. You aced it, my friend.

Hi ROG & Eddie ...

Dang, as I listened to this I thought I was young again and semi good-looking! Three minutes, or so, of nostalgia that rested real nice between my ears (lots of room for it there).

Actually I felt more of a Dave Clark Five vibe with mild suggestions of the BBs. Nicely written, performed and produced. Hats off to all involved. Your music is always a delight!

Best to you ...

Hi ROG and Eddie
I love this! I definitely get the BB vibe, especially on the "oo oo" backing vocals. The girls did a good job and it certainly sounds like it was fun.

Cool song. I didn't catch a BB vibe from this at all. It does have some feel of the 60's groups vocals and even the instrumentation however.

It's sometimes a good idea to move a song from one genre/style to another to let it find it's place. I've done that with a few tunes.

To my ears, the lead singer needs to come up a few db and some pitch correction would be a good thing. He drifts a bit in places.

All together though, a good song.

Hi Rog,

definitely a BB vibe. Very nice backing vocals.
I'm with Herb about the pitch correction.

Thanks to everyone who gave this a listen and commented, some of you possibly for the second time.

Many of the team have moved on now - the girls and Josh are away at university and Alex's family have moved to the beautiful English Lake District some 100 miles away, so the only chance we get to work together is during the vacation times.

Still, Beth and Andy (and of course Eddie) are around and we have some new faces making an appearance soon, but it is nice to listen to some of the old tracks.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
