Hey y'all. I haven't been by here much at all, but I'm still mixing, learning, and experimenting with BB/RB.

This is a very basic, simple song, but it gave me a chance to work with some RT's I hadn't used before.

Style is _RKUPBM1.STY (Rock Uptempo Brent Mason)

LOU'SIANA GIRL

Copyright © 1999
By Scott H Olson

(Chorus)

Lou'siana girl
You're the only one
A dream come true
For a Lou'siana son
You're my world
Lou'siana girl

Steamy afternoon
Love is in the air
You're looking so good
Giving me that stare
You hold me close
Squeeze me tight
Thunder rolls
The lightning strikes

(Repeat Chorus)

Moon shining big
Gulf Of Mexico
Out on the rig
Night passes slow
I dream of you
Your sweet sighs
I can't wait to
Look in your eyes

(Repeat Chorus)

Hi Scott. I don't remember the last time I heard anything from you. This song rocks!! Really nicely done in every sense. The lead vocal (which is great) may be a touch loud, and I would bring the drums up a touch and brighten them a bit. Excellent stuff!! Take care. Greg

Scott, You've been missed ! Nice selection of real tracks. Great vocals! This is among the best that you've posted. The mix sounds good. I like how you used the sw bass with the even tracks- worked like a charm. That is what set the groove. More, More, More! Tom

Hi, Scott!

Well put together. You do this "style" well - your vocals fit it well and are nicely distinctive... It sounds like... Scott!

Good choice of tracks and a good mix. I did think the vocal could use just a bit of reverb to set it down into the mix just a tad more.

Good to see ya back 'round these parts...

Really nice song and production Scott. This has all the right elements and I liked this one from start to finish. It has a vibe of Chris Isaak's Baja Sessions album to me.

Good stuff, thanks for posting.

That's a good 'un!! Before listening I was
wondering about the sw bass but it worked.
Often that will cause some tension.

Nice production. Glad you're back.

Thanks Mario. I did tweak the vocal a smidge based on the feedback from earlier. You probably heard that updated mix. Glad it sounded okay:)

Scott -

Love this one. Took me right to the bayou!

Now I gotta get me some Crawfish Étouffée and top it off with a nice beignet! grin

Bob

Cool tune. Nice clean mix as well.

Rocking it nicely. I was almost expecting to hear some Cajun in this.

Nicely done.

Thank you for the listens and the comments.

I made a few more mix adjustments based on your suggestions so if you do listen again, or for the first time, please don't hesitate to critique. I used Ozone's matching EQ feature this time with 'How Long' by the Eagles as a reference. The original post links to the newest version, but here it is again:)
