Charlie Fogle contacted me and said that he had written a song using song titles that I had posted in the last year. He then asked if I would like to participate playing guitar and possibly singing.

What he didn’t realize was that I would hijack the whole thing. I originally wanted his vocals but I got caught up in it. His melody is untouched. I just tweaked a few lyrics and changed a few real tracks in his original SGU.

Needless to say I was very flattered that someone would take the time to do this and then include me. The outcome is that this provided me with a retrospective look at 2014. Thank you Charlie!

Looking From Where I’m At

I don’t want to talk about it
I want to hold you tonight
I never even thought about it
i just want to hold you tonight
cause looking from where I’m at
I’m walking on thin ice
Looking from where I’m at
Wrong is what I do right
I’ll never quit loving you
No jury could convict me of love
Loving you is what i do
no jury would convict me of love
But looking from where I’m at
I’m walking on thin ice
Looking from where I’m at
Wrong is what I do right
(Instrument Break )
Looking from where I’m at
I’m walking on thin ice
Looking from where I’m at
Wrong is what I do right
Wrong is what I do right

Tom / Charlie,

Very clever - loved it. Tom, the vocal and guitar solo are really outstanding on this...

Bob
The big drum sound was a great start, and then that signature Tom Adams "hit you in the gut" guitar came in and I was hooked. But, there was no let down from there. Great vocal, great arrangement, great solo. Great everything!! Thanks Charlie and Tom. Outstanding listen!! Take care. Greg

my thoughts exactly!
I really like the idea of constructing lyrics from multiple other sources. I could easily imagine doing it based on Beatles songs, because there would be so much to choose from... but to pull it off with one man's forum songs over the course of one year.. that's downright masterful!

As always Tommy.. you wear many hats well, playing multiple instruments, singing, mixing etc.. you got the whole deal. If you were a set of encyclopedias, you wouldn't be missing any of the volumes.
Tom / Charlie,
A powerfull song, straightforward it hit me in my headphones! I love it.
Original idea to build the lyrics this way.

Grtz to you both

Fred
Awesome tune. Very neat how it was composed. As always everything so very well done...
Tom and Charlie,

NOW that is a clever/good/brilliant/original idea!! cool
Especially as it works SO WELL.

Well done Charlie for the idea and kudos to Tom for the titles, singing and of course his guitar!!

BRILLIANT

Greg, Always glad to get a listen from you. We look forward to hearing more from you in 2015. Tom
A great concept that yielded a great collab. How cool is that? A perfect vocal, guitar I can barely dream of and a mix I aspire toward. Toss in a clever write and you got the whole package.

WTG guys!!!!!

J&B
Great tune!

Thanks for the music,

Pat, I agree that Charlie did a great job on this. I don't recall ever being compared to a set of encyclopedias before, so thanks - I think. I guess that dates us a bit. Funny how these things that we always took for granted are disappearing. Merry Christmas friend. Tom

Scott, thanks much! Tom
Tommy that mix and playing is just ",down right brown sugar sweet!"

Thank you for wakening me up.

Hi Tom and Charlie.

What a wonderful track.

Charlie - this is a brilliant piece of writing. It's powerful, it's exciting and it makes you want to play it over and over. The tune is just simple enough to stay with you after the track has finished and you find yourself singing it hours afterwards. This is one to copy and play in the car on the freeway.

Tom - I can see why you wanted to sing this one. Who wouldn't love to have a go at that song? And I must say, you did it justice. The vocal had the power that the song deserved, together with clever dynamics and lots of expression. Guitar was tasty too!

Super piece of collaboration, Guys.

ROG.
Tommy and Charlie,

Strong song and a nice collaboration.
Hi Tommy/Charlie,

This sounds really good!
Rather heavy rock, but melodic. Just the way we like it.
Rob was waiting for a subtle (backing) vocal of Charlie whistle...
Anyway guys.... very well done!

Rob and Anne-Marie
Thanks everyone for taking time to listen and for the nice comments on the writing. There was actually very little for me to do on this as my inclusion was merely to arrange Tom Adams words into what I thought to be a Tom Adams style soundtrack. After submitting my arrangement to Tom he did what he does best --- he nailed it.

This song is testament to Tom's strong writing skills which I have admired for quite some time. I can also say I am thrilled with his mix, performance and most importantly, his graciousness in allowing me to have a small part in one of his productions.

Charlie
Charlie/Tom,

What a great listen!

Clever, clever write!

A stunning rock mix. The drums are a standout - superb fills - that one after the first chorus...nice! Each instrument stands on it's own and holds together as a "well oiled" band...

Tom - your best rock vocal (so far...looking foward to what happens in 2015).

Tasty guitar. The lead is both "familiar" and original - the perfect blend...

The chorus sounds like the Heartbreakers stepped off the Refugee album (one of my all time favorites) to help out... Loved that!

Great one, guys!

Alyn, Thanks from both of us. The melody was so natural feeling, it was easy to sing. Tom

ROG, That melody hooked me too. Not too much extra stuff going on, just enough for good old American Rock. Tom

Wow, ROG, I am completely humbled and flattered by your more than kind comment. I have such respect for your body of work I'm familiar with here on the forum. I hope you enjoy playing this song your car and don't forget to play it LOUD...

Very nice work gents....This is well done.

I immediately got a Tom Petty vibe from this that remained throughout.

Clever idea for the song. I recall back when I was a kid, there were a few songs done in this sort of manner, using parts from other songs to create a new one,,,,, but not as serious music, more along the line of comedy music.

I was immediately impressed with the sound you got from the drums..... I do not think I have EVER heard anyone get the quality sound you got going here, out of the real band drums. Until I went back to look at the track list, I was thinking this was a third party drum synth.... it was "that good".

Vocals fit well, the guitar sounded good, a bit sharp, but it works for rock and roll.....

Nice work all the way around.....
Great stuff Tommy and a very interesting story behind it!

Enjoyed the song a lot. That's also the kind of guitar sound I often aim for.
Loved the fat drums too smile

Happy New Year!

floyd, You certainly honed in on the vibe we were going for. Charlie actually said " I've written a Tom Petty type song". Thanks for all of your support in 2014. We both appreciate it! Tom

As I said to floyd, we were going for the Tom Petty thing and you certainly picked up on it. Thanks for your comments about the drums. You gotta get them right for a rock song. And thanks for your ongoing support of my songs. I hold your opinion in high regard and I always look forward to what you have to say. Tom

Charlie / Tommy,
Great sound. It's got a real Tom Petty feel to it. Thanks for posting.

Impressive pickin' great mix and vocal performance; thanks for sharing!
It's already been said, but there's no harm in repeating: awesome track.

The vocal initially made the think of Warren Zevon (in a good way), but the harmonies on the chorus sold me on that Tom Petty sound, without being derivative. Great all around.
