Why Don't You Save Me Hi all,
In my latest remix contest I processed two songs. This is the second one.
(
http://www.remixcomps.com/contest/kan-waken-remix-contest)
I only used vocals and drums from the original.
After playing the chords in 6/8 measure I had problems importing them into BiaB. So I changed the tempo and the measure to 3/4.
I used following RTs:
RT1192_ Bass, Electric, PopRockWaltz Ev 140
RT855_ Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Rhythm RockWa
RT863_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopRockWaltzPulsi
866_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopRockWaltzSte
RT1168_Guitar, Electric, Soloist RockBalladBrent Ev 065 (Bluesy)
RT1209_Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm GypsyJazzBalladGonzalo Sw 11
Here is what came out:

Guenter,
Loved it!
I liked the original this time. But, again, your version has SO much more character!
And, as last time, you have made the vocal "center stage". It is a very dramatic vocal - and you show that off.
It has a "big 70's show rock" feel and sound. A cross between Zeppelin and Heart...
Great use of RTs. Excellent mix. You are a Pro.
A terrific listen.
floyd
Nice mix and production. Good choice of real tracks.
Enjoyed my listen.
Charlie
Very cool Guenter!! Yours brought forth the spirit of the original but with a vibe all its own. Like last time, I like yours better, although both were great. Really amazing work! Take care. Greg
Hi Guenter,
I'm still following your mixes. Again you did a great job with this one. It must be great to work with such talented voices. Hope you can win a prize with this one. You surely deserve it.
Grtz
Fred
Hi Guenter,
Great job! Super sound here. Hope you win!
Steve
Hi Floyd,
thanks a lot.
Yes, the original is great. I was discouraged first. But then just tried to find a version of my own.
Guenter
Hi Charlie,
thanks a lot for listening and for always being so swift writing nice comments.
Guenter
Like has been said the original was good but, man,
you just set the vocal on fire and the RT's and mix
are spectacular.
This is a tremendous example of the power of
RealTracks and talent.
J&B
Guenter you are so good at this. Hope you win. Really hear the LZ influence in that vocal.
Josie
Yeah, you rock this one out of the park! Great use of realtracks!
Hi Guenter,
A very good remix, it has so much power and the vocal is more important in your remix than in the original.
Hope you win!
Rob and Anne-Marie
Hi Greg,
you are such a faithful poster. Thank you for that. I'm humbled that you like my version better.
Guenter
Guenter -
Very cool. Love the reverse bit in the beginning. Hope you win.
Regards,
Bob
Hi Fred,
thanks.
It must be great to work with such talented voices.
Yes, it's great fun. You should try it yourself. They have published 107 contests at the moment. A lot to choose from.
Hope you can win a prize with this one. You surely deserve it.
The deadline is already over.
Guenter
What a sound! Guenter you smoked this one. Your mixes are so powerful! I always enjoy your contributions. Excellent work once again. Tom
Hi Guenter,
What an amazing, amazing sound is coming out of my speakers right now as I'm listening to this remix. I cannot, for the life of me, believe that what I'm hearing are Band In A Box's Realtracks. Your ability to arrange and to mix is outstanding, incredible. A phrase that springs to mind is "sonic engineer extraordinaire".
I'm curious, do you use the audiophile edition of BIAB/RB?
All the best,
Noel
Hi Steve,
thanks a lot.
I didn't win, but I had lots of fun.
Guenter
Hi Janice & Bud,
thanks a lot for listening and commenting.
Guenter
Hi Josie,
thanks a lot.
Really hear the LZ influence in that vocal.
What does LZ mean?
Guenter
Hi Lawrence and Rob & Anne-Marie,
thanks a lot for taking the time to listen and comment.
It's an incentive for me.
Guenter
Hi Guenter. I am a little late to this party! The original is not really my taste but I love your version. You did a great job on the vocals which are so much clearer in your version
Hi Bob,
thank you a lot.
What do you mean with "reverse bit" ?
Guenter
Hi Tommy,
thanks a lot for your generous comments.
Guenter
Hi Noel,
thanks a lot for your kind comments. Yes, BiaB is a wonder!
I'm curious, do you use the audiophile edition of BIAB/RB?
I started with it. But now I'm using the ordinary edition. And I must admit I can't hear the difference.
Guenter
Hi, Guenter....
I'm curious..
I started with it. But now I'm using the ordinary edition. And I must admit I can't hear the difference.
Have you installed the "regular" version over your original Audiophile version?... in which case, I would suspect, most of your RTs would still be wavs from the Audiophile version.. wouldn't they?...
Hi Joanne,
thank you very much. I'm glad you like it.
Guenter
Hi Floyd,
Have you installed the "regular" version over your original Audiophile version?... in which case, I would suspect, most of your RTs would still be wavs from the Audiophile version.. wouldn't they?...
No, I use a different drive. The Audiophile tracks are in my drawer and are not touched.
Guenter
hi Guenter great vocal wow great job thanks eric
Hi Eric,
thanks a lot.
Guenter
Guenter,
WOW! This is fantastic! Sounds like a long lost Robert Plant recording... Excellent!
Bob
Hi Bob,
thanks a lot for your kind review.
Guenter
As I listen to your remixes I have to think that they may do more than anything else to showcase the versatility of BIAB! You are going way beyond styles and genres in these productions.. usually starting with songs that are already highly creative and different from the styles that ship with BIAB. But when you fuse these artists' work with your creative genius plus Real Tracks, it's as though you've created a whole new art form! Please keep doing this! Every one of your remixes has been jaw-droppingly good!
As mentioned when you remixed your first KAN WAKAN song, I really like this group! All of the musicians play multiple instruments, they are musically very smart and innovative, and the singer is stylish, beautiful and incredible. So you are starting with the very best raw material, then ramping it up to a new height.
How you find the right tracks is a mystery to me... some of what you used in this project, I've never even heard! But you have the magic knack for finding and combining sounds that work well on every level.. from capturing the inherent emotion, to being just plain musical and beautiful!
I'd like to hear your remix of one of my songs if I ever post any!
Guenter,
This mix is really creative and sounds superb to my ears. I love how the vocals pop out, yet everything seems to just sit in the mix like it needs to. Very enjoyable to listen to.
David
Hi Pat,
thanks a lot for your profound review.
At the moment I'm in a remix phase. I have so much fun with it that I'm going to do some more until I get another idea.
How you find the right tracks is a mystery to me...
The mystery is called BiaB! It makes it so easy to experiment. In the 80s I used to record every instrument myself (except lead guitars which were played by friends). The "disadvantage" of BiaB is that it makes you lazy and prevents you from playing yourself because you can't do it better than the RTs.
I'd like to hear your remix of one of my songs if I ever post any!
I'm looking forward to that!
Guenter
Guenter,
You are a tone fanatic! You find tones in RealTracks that shouldn't exist. I am amazed hearing the electric bass as the PopWaltz track I have sounds nothing like yours! The notes are there but the sound is not.
Bravo! Sorry you did not win.
Hi David,
thanks a lot for listening and commenting.
Much appreciated.
Guenter
Hi Jim,
thanks a lot for your generous comments.
Winning is not the aim.
