Posted By: LJDavid Full Circle - BB made it onto my new album! - 03/03/15 04:58 PM
I usually like to sing and play all the instruments on my music but for one of my songs on my brand new album, I actually ended up liking the Band in a Box drum part (and a very faint pad synth part) more than what I played. So, I went with the BB drums instead of my own on the song "Full Circle". The whole album is currently previewing for free at CD Baby but if you're just interested in the song that Band in a Box was on, you can listen to it at Soundcloud here:

Much of the album is harder rock music than this but I hope people will also consider checking that out. Regardless, thought listeners would appreciate to hear one way I was able to use BB drums to improve my music.
Nice tune.... what style and what drum track it it?

I like the sound of the song and the drums are quite appropriate.... nice snare crack.... if fact the entire kit sounds huge.

I'm not 100% positive but I think it was PopModernGrooveSync16^3Hat. The reason I'm not positive is that I may have actually used 2 or 3 drum styles and cropped them in sections. I also EQ'ed the drums significantly and boosted the mid range of the snare quite a bit so it would pop more. Thanks for listening. - LJD
L.J.,

A great listen! Cool song.

Nicely recorded. Nicely mixed and arranged.

Terrific vocals.

Very professional all around. (love the tone on the outro solo!)

A big Welcome! to the Showcase... hope we will hear more from you...

Nice song and good performance. Enjoyed it. Glad you were able to utilize Band in a box as it does work well with your song and your mix really brought out the drums.

Very professional indeed!
More to come?

Wonderful song!! I love this kind of musical groove. Lyrics sound very good-would love to see them printed so I could catch them all. This is very cool music. I wouldn't mind having the vocals a bit more out front. Great stuff!! Stick around! Take care. Greg
Thanks everyone! For those of you kind enough to say you wanted more, there is actually plenty more from me online, some of it Band in a Box stuff. There's still an active link elsewhere in this forum I think from the 2014 usertracks contest where my entry was a winner in the pop/rock category and there are 14 or 15 different usertracks of me playing guitar there that you can use on your own BB tracks. Also, even though this Full Circle song was the only one on my album that used BB (on drums), if you like my music, there are 10 other songs on the CD that you can check out through this link, though I played all the parts on those and many of them are much harder rock.

Greg Johnson, you said you would like the lyrics. They're actually posted in the liner notes from the CD on my website here. The lyrics for this particular song are on page 6 of the CD booklet you can view through that page.

Thanks for listening and please do check out my other music if you like this one.

Really enjoyed the song. Nice lyrics, and vocals
The slow build works well.
This is really well produced
Welcome to the forum, LJDAVID!

I'll echo what everybody else has said, and add that what you're doing here is one of the many ways to use BIAB... and as such it's good to have examples on the user showcase of how BIAB can be used in conjunction with any combination of other music resources to make great recordings!
Welcome aboard!

Without trying parse it all out I'll
simply say that everything here
works and works very well..

We enjoyed the listen.

Well done. I would've liked the vocal a little bit louder or the guitars brought down a bit in the verses to hear it better. But great job nonetheless. Hope you have great success with your CD.
