Sun comes up sun goes down It just the way things work

how you ever gonna understand love if you never get hurt

it’s just a natural reaction to wanna put up walls

a way to protect your heart from from one of those nasty falls

Now you've got me wondering Do you even want to try

If you're ever gonna to learn to love me you better learn how cry

must be a way to fix yourself, I think there’s been some damage done

A long line of lovers lost I might be looking like another one

if you really wanna dig down deep see what we can find

You’re gonna have to let me in i know you’ve never been the trusting kind

Now you've got me wondering Do you even want to try

If you're ever gonna learn to love me you better learn how cry

you’ve got yourself all locked up thinking you’re the only one

it happens to the best of us we've all been hurt by love

maybe you should pinch yourself just to see if you’ll react

you ain’t feeling much of anything with that monkey on your back

Now you've got me wondering Do you even want to try

If you're ever gonna learn to love me you better learn how cry

Hello Thomas,

Who played the solo guitar ? I don't think it's a Real track (RealTracks in style: 421:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues Sw 120)

Very punchy song, I like it

Tom...

Cool drum opening. Nicely placed. Then the organ lick and guitar lick form a very solid ramp to the vocal...

Interesting bass choice - CountrySwing - works well with the shuffle drum - solid. Nice tone on your guitar. Good groove throughout. I don't recall anyone using the organ so well...

Excellent mix. (you are the King of BIAB drums! <bow> <bow> )

Tasty. The guitar walk-down lick.... nice!

Hey Tom,
I always like the way you seamlessly mix the realtracks with your own playing. For me its always hard to tell which is which on your tracks. Also liked your jazzier take on the blues this time....very nicely done.

Thanks for posting.

Beautiful, I love those chord changes and the organ interaction, especially in the beginning!
Cool lead guitar playing as always.

The blues maestro strikes again!! Very cool lyrics, and delivered with feeling and command. Guitar work is as good as it gets. Love the interesting chord changes-very fresh approach to the blues, and as Floyd said, organ is amazingly well used. Pure Tommyad blues magic!! Loved it. Take care Tom. Greg

This reminds me of the Old School Blues and the lyrics just takes this song up there with the best.

Excellent production all the way through.

Nice slow cooker ( not too slow though) . I like the changes especially 'round 2:04. I was having a ZZ Top flashback at that moment. Great heavy guitar tone. What was your setup for that?
Posted By: gibson Re: Learn How To Cry - 05/30/15 01:00 AM
Tom,

NICE!
Some cool licks in your solo and the walkout was nice.
I like the way the organ interweaves.

It's too early for my "neighbourhood test" (4.00am!) I will try it later.

That monkey on the back is good inspiration for songs and I had a quick flash of the evil monkey who lives in Chris' closet in Family Guy for that!

Good work as usual

Rocking blues! I enjoyed it from start to end.

Most excellent Mr. Adams. You well know what
a fan we are of the blues and, man, does this
one stands out above the crowd. The write
breathes refreshing life into the genre and
the groove is right in the pocket. Your vocal
delivery is nailed and then your guitar. A guitar
for which you have both a signature sound
backed up with fine playing.

Yup, we like it a LOT!!!

Nearly forgot to mention the ace arrangement
and mix. Getting so spoiled we've just come
to take it for granted.

Hi Tommy,

just great. I especially like that walking down
guitar. Organ and lead are fantastic. Your vocals
fit that great production.

floyd, The bass was the ONLY one that worked on the single note walk down. Thanks for all the nice comments. Tom

Wow Tommy, as others noted, you squeezed the blues out of this one. Great write, mix and performance, vocally and musically.

This one is over the top.

You're a player, Tommy, there is no doubt. And you most definitely have a flair for this genre and for writing some hard-hitting lyrics.

Really love that smoldering, tasteful guitar during the chorus and verses.

Sweet mix, as usual:)

This is a classic tune man. Great lyrics. Very ZZ Top. Intense lyrics. Great hook. Excellent playing and instrumentation, and mixing.

The only part that distracted me was something in the backing vocals early on. Other than that I thought I was listening to the radio.

David, Thanks for coming by and giving it a spin. I'm not sure what it was that distracted you since there were no backing vocals. Thanks again for all the nice comments. Tom
