Dear forum friends, this is really more of a parody than a tribute-too silly for a tribute. But I had a lot of fun doing it. I think it is remarkable demonstration of the power of BIAB, much more than anything I did. I enjoy listening to those players "jam". It's all BIAB except the arpeggio (I guess that would be the description) synth chords which were done with a plugin (spacing on the name). I will post the RTs later. Comments always encouraged! Take care. Greg

IN THE PINK

Breathe in, let your spirit free
Find your inner light
Cast off the problems that weigh you down
Let your soul take flight

Let your soul take flight
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Become one
How free you will be
Comfortably numb

Watch, watch yourself rise
Through the atmosphere
Your hands like two balloons
The view is coming clear

From the dark side of the moon
You will see that a wall exists
Between their side and ours

Fantastic Greg. I really liked the mirroring with the echos, well balanced. David Gilmour would be happy with your tribute, I'm sure.

The sax solo and guitar work fits really well.

Overall a great 'haunting' delivery. The long Fade-out at end was a perfect way for closing this song.

Another winner.

Greg,

I congratulate you on an outstanding composition, performance, arrangement, mix... everything is A1. The ambiance this music creates is spell-binding. Musicianship everywhere!

Very clever - (made me want to solo over it) - and nicely written.

Yes that certainly needs a real guitar player exploring our emotions.

A cryptic sentence, what did you use??

Marvellous vocals as usual from you.

Love the over use of the echo on the vocals. Mood plus more mood.
This is excellent. This reminds me of Super Tramp. Well done.
Rob.
A great job on capturing the vibe. Outstanding job and super job on the vocals and effects. In my opinion, your voice is one of the best here on the forum. There is a purity there that separates you and pushes you up to the top of the pack. I always look forward to your posts.

+1, I have always thought that same thing regarding your vocals. Guitar and sax work very well. Nicely arranged and produced. I do not have much experience listening to Pink Floyd but if they sound anything remotely like this I missed the boat. Another superior sounding post! Tom

Greg: "Fantastic", love the vocals, enjoyed the long solo, the guitar solo really makes me want to practice more.

This is cool..

I would have been happy to contribute my meager guitar skills to that solo. It would have been a blast. The RT did a good job but.......

I started a tune a few years back..... then realized it sounded a lot like a Pink Floyd tune....so I changed a few chords and realized shortly after that it now sounded like a Mott The Hoople song.... since I couldn't seem to win for losing, and couldn't beat them....I decided to join them....and went on to do an amazingly accurate (to the original) Mott cover song using BB. It's still on my regular play list in my MP3 player and one of my favorites. I'll see if I can find it and figure a way to post it somewhere that inquiring folks might be able to "mistakenly" find.

Hi Greg,

you better call it a tribute than a parody.
It's a fantastic song and you really caught
the vibe. Great vocals and a good choice
of RTs.
I really enjoyed listening.

Greg,

This is a song about astral projection, right wink

You're raising that bar into the atmosphere!

Excellent everything. Vocal, arrangement, production, mix - all stellar.
A cool write. Wonderful melody.

The sax sounds great.

And no butt about it, the guitar is tasty...

Stunning.

Greg, you've done a wonderful job writing this tribute and putting it together. Loved the RT's you used and you sound great doing it. (I'm assuming no period Hookah was involved except of course for medicinal purposes...just kidding. LOL!)

Greg I really like the band that you comprised and especially the guitar and sax. Very nice piece indeed!

Hi there Greg,

we are very familiar with the original 'Breathe' and a big fan of David Gilmour's vocals. I must say you've captured that Floyd sound very nicely.
The same goes for Dave's voice and his specific lead guitar sound.

Good work!

Clever and well done. As already mentioned, you really got the vibe down, including the vocals.

A beautiful take on the old Floyd which was my favourite band for many years.
Particularly fine vocal. Cheers.

Greg,

Excellent! Sounds like a long lost PF song. Love the vocals and fade out at the end... Great job.

Plus 2 here.

PF was one of our rare forays away from the blues and bluegrass back in that day. It remains odd that we were attracted by them but we wanted to see what all the hoopla was about and got captured.

Like Noel said the ambiance is spell binding - to the extent that we hit the play button again immediately after the fade.

Absolutely stellar vocals.

Most excellent!

My older brother introduced me to Pink Floyd in my early teens, so they have a soft spot for me, and I have to say you nailed their style down to a T! Extremely well done, I am so impressed smile

Thanks for the kind words Peter. You play some great guitar! But I was shocked how Floydish the BIAB solo was. And the drums I thought fit their style as well. Loved you last post-sweet playin'! Take care. Greg

Thanks Alyn. I thought you were probably a Floyd fan. I wasn't trying to be cryptic. Just late at night after a long day and a few beers. The plugin was digital synsations from UVI. They gave it free as a teaser to people who buy on audiodeluxe.com, which for plugins is a great website. Thanks for you kind comments. Dig your latest post! Take care. Greg

Very kind words Charlie! I've never thought of myself as a singer but I do love to sing. The folks on the forum have been very generous in their comments on my vocal abilities and it is much appreciated! Always enjoy your songs! Take care. Greg
Ok, man a guitarist only wants two know one thing: what effects were you using on the guitar dude? That was so David Gilmour it was crazy. So what pedals were you stomping on there bro. Come on--share the magic. smile

If you don't I will forever be comfortably numb. And my hands will feel just like two balloons. I know you know what I'm talking about.

Thanks so much Floyd, for your comments and support in general! I was impressed at how much the RTs worked. I heard a lot of Gilmour in that guitar, particularly the way it came in. The boys were having so much fun jamming, I just let 'em go. Thanks for the kind review! Take care. Greg

THanks R and AM! Yeah, I tried to fit as many Floyd lines in as I could and still spin them into a somewhat coherent lyric (barely coherent). Any compliment on vocals from you guys means a lot. Your vocals are pretty amazing! Take care. Greg
