This is part of a larger project called See Rock City, for which "Looking For a Friend" is also a part. Thanks to my son's girlfriend Azalea for vocals in the dialogue section, she had never recorded before.

Rooftop in New York

DGA I fell in love, on a rooftop in New York
DA She was reading the Daily News
DGA I'm a little bit shy, but I had to interrupt her
DA in the middle of the book reviews
AD on a rooftop in New York
DGA DGA

DA Have you been here long?
DGA No, I come from California
DA In film school at NYU
DA DGA If you've got the time, I'd like to get to know you
DA there's lots of things that we could do
DGA it was springtime in New York
DBmA and a gentle breeze was blowing
GA there was magic in the air
EmAD on a Sunday made for love

I like this!! It just feels spontaneous and natural. A little more of a ballad than your usual style. Your son's girlfriend did a nice job with the vocal. Very pleasant tune! Take care. Greg

Will and Azalea,

The two of you have created a really happy sounding and really enjoyable musical journey. I was there with you both all the way!

I was particularly taken with the arrangement and the way in which you developed it. Even though I could never anticipate what was going to happen next, when it happened, every time I thought to myself, "That's perfect!"

Congratulations to you both!

Regards,
Noel

Thank you all so much, Azalea will be delighted.

Hi Will!

I like the band you used in this.. the acoustic guitar paired with cello and strings especially. It reminded me of something that might have been played by Simon and Garfunkel or other groups from that era.

Send my regards to Azalea for her part in the song.. she did a great job for a first time in front of a mic!

Your voice is perfect for this song, and I found it very easy to listen to. The tail end sounds like it got clipped at some point in the production, but apart from that, I loved everything about it!

Nice song, I like it
Interesting idea to sing in duo. Enjoyable vocal.

The version I posted was a rough mix, the program crashed and I thought I had lost Azalea's vocal. I found her parts in temp files and manually rebuilt the track, then made a final mix. Here it is.

Thanks Rob. Because it's part of a larger piece, I didn't feel I had to flesh it out into a complete song. Even so, it's over 3 minutes long.

We like Greg's choice of words "spontaneous and natural." Everything about it
seems organic and there's something magical about the way it flows.

We enjoyed everything aspect...

Well done!!

I appreciate the kudos for Azalea's vocal, I will read the complements to her. She was perfect, I wanted a naive, untrained performance, and she delivered.

Great song! I love your ability to insert lyrical lines that are grounded, palpable.

"reading the daily news...the book reviews" Bravo!!!

And I always enjoy your instrument choices too.

much enjoyed!

Love it, especially call and response part. And the following vocal harmony. Well done!

This is a good song on every level. Great concept and you did a very good job of keeping all the elements on track. The right instrumentation for the lyrics and a perfect melody and chord progression for the song theme. Excellent write, mix and performance. Azalea certainly delivered the perfect vocal for the song and the song was perfect for your vocal delivery. Yep, this is a good song on every level

Thank you Charlie, Azalea will love the compliment
