Hi All,

Here's a song that I wrote many years ago. I've recorded this one a couple of times - once with Josie Beck. I'm revisiting some of my much older material and building some new arrangements, etc.

This is called Hawks.

All BIAB/RTs - recorded & mixed in GarageBand.

2474: Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085
1943: Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance Strings Ev 120
2267: Synth, BellPad, Rhythm 80sPopPads Ev 085
2448: Guitar, Electric Background, PopDreamyBrent Ev 085
RealDrums: UrbanPop Ev GoodGirl 1 Kck1, b:Clap

Thanks for listening! smile

As soon as someone uses Pop Dreamy Brent, they have our attention smile
But that's not all.
A very emotive song, very well produced!

"I saw her in the city
The way you recognize a friend"

Love that line, Bob!

Nice job of using BIAB in a really interesting way. This is super!

Awesome job! Sounds great.

Hi Bob,

not only great lyrics but an impressive
arrangement, too.

Hi Bob,

I wanted to hear and ‘absorb’ every words of this song, it so captured my imagination.
Nicely done.

well done wink

Bob,

Impressive lyrics
Had to listen a few times to this.
This is a bit of gibsonology but I thought a dead stop, with the pads and strings fading on the last word "again" at 3.03 would be a powerful ending to a great song.

That was GOOD

Cool song Bob, and definitely worth revisiting!! Very poetic lyrics (some great images) and the music is quite meditative. I love the way that "dreamy" guitar works with the pads. Really enjoyable!! Take care. Greg

floyd has already mentioned it but what a great line -- amongst many.

It seems paradoxical but to us there is a haunting yet edgy feel to both the vocal and
the entire groove -- and that is very engaging.

We most enjoyed the listen. Good one for the playlist.

Man this is really cool! Your lyrics and vocals as always are over the top brilliant.

The mix sounds a little harsh to me though. I have been struggling with the same since I do rock and roll as well and one of our users pointed me to this tool on a forum posting that has been running the past few days on recording and mixing and mastering.

A good way to check if you've over-compressed a mix is the TT Dynamic Range meter.

I downloaded this tool and have been using it and it is magical. It tells you stuff you won't even get from Ozone, like, what your dynamic range looks like in simple terms. I have decided to put it in my master bus, so when I am eq-ing tracks I can keep an eye on what is going on compression wise during the work flow so I end up with a smooth dynamic range at the end. Just thought that would be of interest.

Great song!!
