Hi,
My first time posting a song here, but I’ve enjoyed using Band in the Box now for some time now. In the song I wrote and sharing is “Missing You”.

702 Guitar, Aucoutic, Strumming, Spirited EV065
367 Guitar, Electric, Background Dreamy Ev 065

I’m playing piano, organ, and singing lead and harmonies. Orchestra is a blend of real string players and my Roland keyboard.

Mixing of audio and video tracks was done on Sonar and Cyber link Power Director. While I’ve used Band in the Box to help lay down tracks behind documentary videos before, this is my first real music video I’ve made and liked the practice it gave me. Some of the video clips are stock videos and the guy singing in the video is me. Hope you enjoy. Open to give you tips if you want your songs put to a video, email me at atze55@gmail.com.

I wake up mornings alone in bed, your vacant pillow by my head,
An empty place you once filled, I’m missing you.
As I go about my days, you’re not here, you’re far away
Wishing you were here, I’m missing you.
I think of how you changed my life, all our years together,
Warm memories come to mind, I know my life was better being with you.
Many days many milestones, we’re travelers on separate roads
I wish we would come home, I’m missing you
Funny how just simple things, can bring back happy memories
Of how we use to be, I’m missing you
I share with you my cherished wish, that we’re together again
Distance made my heart grow fonder, life was so much better being with you.
When I fall asleep at nights, I wonder if you think of me.
Are there times you miss me too? In my dreams you do,
Missing you.
Atze,
the sentiment of the song brings to mind Bobby Golsboro's Honey.
A big fat arrangement once things get really going.
Well constructed mate.

Very nice Atzy! Really enjoyed that.

Atze, This is a great first post. Looking forward to hearing more from you. I really enjoyed it very much. Tom
Hi Atze,

welcome to the forum!
Great first post.
Enjoyable listen.

Guenter
Atze,

first of all, welcome to the forum! I think you're going to fit right in here!

and second of all... WOW! This is an awesome song! I see that you played a lot of it and that makes it all the more impressive to me! Very professional sound all around! I look forward to hearing more from you!
Thanks for your feedback. I like the Bobby Golsboro’s Honey. I think lyric does have a feeling that goes back to the 60s 70s and using real instruments instead of synths is going to have a musical feeling that dates back a ways. I wonder if anyone has used anything like Omnishere on their Realtracks to have their music sound more like today’s top 40 sounds? Thinking of trying it, but it would be nice to know how it went with someone else.
Thanks Bob,(90db) I wish I had a voice more like yours singing lead for this song. Listening to your songs, your voice has an emotional plaintive feel that would take up the songs emotional feel a lot. Look forward to hearing more of your songs.

Atze,

Really nice song - I like the way you built the arrangement. Cool delivery as well.

Bob
Thanks Tom (tommyad) for the encouragement. I listen to your song “What’s Its Going to Take, I really like it. I could learn a thing or two about mixing and master from you. Intent to listen to more of your songs. Thanks again.
Thanks Pat (Pat Marr).

Thanks for the friendly welcome. After hearing your song “Hey Little Girl” I value your compliment a lot. I like your song and I am impressed with the mixing and mastering, sounds really professional. There are some great songs I’ve heard so far shared in the forum, but they seem to get covered by poor mixing, but you do not have that problem at all. I think I could learn something from you and others who seem to have mixing down to a pro sounding level. Thanks again,

Atze
Thanks Bob (rsdean)

Glad you like my song and arrangement. Haven’t listen to your songs yet but look forward to hearing them.

Thanks
Atze

Thanks for the welcome to the forum. Have to say your remix "Take It Back" is amazing. What the heck are you doing to change those Band in the Box real Track sound and personality!!!??? Really look forward to listening to more of your stuff,

Atze
Welcome to the forum and thanks for bringing such a great song and performance to start things off. Not that you didn't do a great job but this song and arrangement really would be a perfect fit for 90db. He's one of my favorite voices from here on the forum.

This was a fine arrangement, mix and performance and I enjoyed my listen.
Hello Atze,

From your name we take it you have Dutch parents/ancestors? (We are Dutch ;-))
This is a great first post! Beautiful song, beautiful vocals (with a very nice timbre and emotion).
We see that you're also into video editing, just like us. We really liked the video, inserting a performance part in the middle was a very good idea!
Looking forward to hearing, and seeing, more of your work.

Regards,
Rob & Anne-Marie

I WISH the song "Hey Little Girl" was mine! But it is the work of Floyd Jane, and he really is a pro! No doubt anything you've heard of mine would be in the group that was mixed poorly! (Mixing is not my forte... I'm happy with my ideas and with my playing, not so much with my mixing)
Welcome to the forums!

WOW this is a fantastic song. For the first song and the first time doing a video you did one fantastic job! I really like your backing tracks and your vocals. The lyrics were top shelf also!

This is a keeper.
Atze,

Welcome to the forum! Terrific entrance you've made...

I like how the write is not maudlin - positive remembrances leading to the "missing you" hook...

Nice overall sound - really nice opening. Good use of your keys - big cohesive sound...carries the lyric well...

Enjoyed it. Look forward to more.

Thank you Rob & Anne-Marie,

My father was born in the Netherlands and migrated to the US where I was born. I have Dutch cousins. One distant cousin I’m told it Jan Akkermam, a guitarist, though I have not met him. Thank you for the nice words for my song. As I have posted on your Showcase, I really like your video and song the Naiad. I feel I have made a music, video and the Dutch connection with you two and look forward to more posts on you showcase or other topics.

Atze
Pat,

Oops, sorry a case of mistaken identity because I still haven’t learned my way around here yet. I appreciate the warm welcome though. Mixing is nice skill to have, but it seems like a hit and miss thing for me with it. If I’m fortunate enough to be here long enough, I will have plenty of poor mixes begging for suggestion to make it sound better and will welcome it. Thanks again for your encouragement and really look forward to hear some of your ideas and playing.
Atze
Atze,
Nice ballad - well played (nice keyboards) and sung - develops nicely.
Very nice first post.
Great entry to the user forum. Like floyd said we also like how
the write steered away from the maudlin or angst and so effectively
delivered the message.

Nice write, vocals and mix.

Kudos!

Very pretty!! Welcome to the forum Atze! This is so nicely put together-beautiful arrangement and very organic sounding, heartfelt vocal. Can't wait for your next one! Take care. Greg

Thank you.
David,

Thank You

Atze
Kenny,

Thank You

Atze
Greg,

Thank you for the nice feed back.

Atze
Janice and Bud,

Thank You. Interesting that you notice and agree about steering away the maudlin and angst. Gave me pause to think, what writer’s mind set kept me going down a darker road so I may one day tap into that again. Thanks for your input.
