A World Apart

By David Snyder

This song is my prayer that we will be able to stop the senseless violence in this world gone mad. My deepest condolences to the families in pain across the world, of every color, creed and ethnicity.

Ch 1

Tell me why
is it so hard for us
to understand
these angry hearts
tell me how
much longer
must we be
a world apart

V1

Some people blame it on money
some people blame it on the color of their skin
some people blame it on everybody else
but the body
that they're in

Ch

Tell me why
is it so hard for us
to understand
these angry hearts
tell me how
much longer
must we be
a world apart

V2

Some people blame it on yesterday
it makes them feel cheated to remember it
and other people just throwaway tomorrow
simply because .... they can't forget

CH

Tell me why
is it so hard for us
to understand
these angry hearts
tell me how
much longer
must we be
a world apart

David,

This is really a beautiful song... Love your vocal range and delivery - just a great piece.

Very nice David! Very Beatle-esque and especially John Lennon-ish.

Most people would have played it safe with a lower take on the melody, but your decision to move it into a higher register really paid off. It's part of what gave it that Beatles sound.

I liked the parts you added to the mix, especially your vocals and the synth strings. The other parts sort of blend into everything else, so it's harder to comment on them.

Anyway... my new DS favorite!

Yes, very reminiscent of Lennon! The lyrics are first class and the music setting perfect for them.
A well crafted song all round David!

David,

I couldn't help but draw comparisons between your 25 year old lyrics and today's world. It's sad that nothing seems to change. I hope your song makes a difference for the better somewhere to someone.

Zowie, David! (that rhymes with WOW-y, not Bowie)

This is OUTSTANDING. (I seem to be using that word a lot lately on the forum - there is so much good music being done.)

Awesome write. Incredible performance.

Cool arrangement/instrumentation. Good mix. Passionate vocal.

While other are hearing a Lennon/Beatles thing (which I understand), to me this is CLASSIC NEIL YOUNG - through and through - but, better than Mr. Young could do it.

You are killing it...

As Noel said it's sad that nothing seems to change...at least in these matters.

Great message and production. The vocal really portrays the appropriate
agony of the lyric.

Nealesque and Lennonesque all in a good way.

Cool production!

Beautiful song David. I must agree that John Lennon popped into my head as soon as the song started. Very cool. Awesome lyric and vocal. A very timely prayer.

David, this is so cool. Definitely has the Lennon feel. An important message and well crafted lyrics. I enjoyed the fact that you went for it with the vocal. The production sounds good and I especially enjoyed the chord choices. Well done. Tom

So winsome and relevant. Sad that songs like this one continue to be timeless.

Great message David.

Reminds me of The Flamin' Lips around their Yoshimi Battles the pink Robots album.
The occasional pitch slip reinforces the fragility and makes the song/purpose more real.
Ever life, in every color, creed, gender and ethnicity is valued.

I hate to sound repetitive, but I immediately heard Lennon! And, I love Lennon!! This is so well put together. I like that the lyrics don't sound overly crafted but just have the feel of totally transparent thought and emotion. You did a great job with arrangement, mix, and vocals. Like Gibson, you have the ability to take BIAB in a totally different, fresh direction. Great stuff!! BTW, where is Alyn lately? I have to send him a PM. Take care. Greg
