What You Desire Hi all,
this time I chose a remix contest where the original song is so good I couldn’t make it better only different. (Original song:
https://soundcloud.com/jodivalentin/what-you-desire )
I used the vocals, background vocals and one guitar track. Then added some Kontakt 5 choir and following RTs:
RealDrums-NashvilleEven8^1-SideStick,Ride
RealDrums-UrbanPopEv16CitySlick^1-Clap,Kck
RT1636_Bass, Electric, JazzFunkBreezy Ev16 075
RT2291_ Horn Section, Rhythm SlowPopPads Ev16 065
RT493_Trombone, Jazz Ballad Sw 085 (Bluesy)
RT1448_Fiddle, Soloist GypsyJazzLatin Ev 165
RT1706_Guitar, Electric, Soloist CountryBrent Ev 085 (Bluesy)
I hope you have fun with it.

Loved this song Guenter. Awesome vocal and backtrack
Wow ! This is soooo great Guenter... Outstanding vocal and backing ! Really enjoyed this...
Hi Scott,
thanks a lot.
I'm glad you like it.
Guenter
I have to disagree with you Guenter-yours is definitely better than the original!! Love the interplay between the melody and solo instruments, particularly the horns. Beautifully put together. You are the master of this domain!! Take care. Greg
Hi Guenter,
You sure added dynamics to the original version.
Talking about original, adding the horn section here really was a cool move!
Great work!
Rob and Anne-Marie
Hi Trygve,
thanks a lot. Glad you like it.
Guenter
Hi Guenter,
To these ears you have turned a great vocal with a so-so backing track into something warmer, subtler & sexier - love the gypsy violin cameo.
Robert
Guenter
As usual very clever and impressive. I liked the trombone - was a nice touch.
(Really enjoyed the comments on the "silent" mix in case you missed them)
When you put a “REALLY” good voice together with a man who can make such a classical arrangement and have the skill to combine it, you have what is here “ MAGIC” good show Boehm
Paddy G
Superb, sophisticated arrangement that was perfect for the vocalist. Enjoyed this from start to finish.
We listened to the original, then yours and then the original again.
We think RnAM stated our feelings very well by singling out the dynamics
and the horns for praise in your arrangement.
The arrangement for the original was at times a wee bit too much "in your face" for us.
But it is certainly a strong arrangement. We're sure you were challenged
given that but we sincerely feel that for our tastes your arrangement is the better.
Heckuva vocalist.
Congrats on a great remix.
J&B
Guenter,
Another amazing transformation.
I bounced around the other submissions - played about 20 of them for short periods. All the ones I heard did a good job. It was as if the vocal was SO good it was impossible to mess it up. A good variety of styles, too.
Once again, when I get to your version (save the best for last), it is so pleasingly different than any others. It breathes.
The trombone was a nice start. The gypsy fiddle gave it a new voice. And then the Brent country guitar took it somewhere else - nice job of tucking that guitar in. I really liked the addition of the UrbanPopEv16CitySlick^1-Clap at the end! (I need to remember that!)
Nice that Jodi gave you a "Like". (The girl can sing!)
Winner.
floyd
Hi Greg,
thanks. You made my day. I'm glad I didn't spoil it.
Guenter
Guenter, This is a great combination of real tracks, Trombone, horn section, fiddle and guitar. Works so well together. A beautiful mix. Absolute excellence all around. Tom
Guenter,
I agree that the original is sooo good that you faced an uphill climb to improve on it... but DANG, you sure duplicated its excellence, but in a different direction
It's interesting to read the various observations about relative quality between the versions... taste is so subjective, and nobody in these contests seems to be a newbie making obvious errors in technical proficiency.
One thing is for sure: including professional content elevates the whole project. Her singing is so good, as floyd said, that it would be hard to screw it up (but easy to benefit from the quality it brings to whatever you choose to add)
In your case, what you added is also very pro quality in terms of everything, so when you hear the sum of its parts, WOW
You really are the remix master.
Guenter,
You are the remix master! Very nice piece of work - everything about this piece works so well together.
Bob
Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

Great production and a vocal
My best compliments to you.

at the "silent" mix.
Guenter
Hi Paddy,
thanks a lot for your nice comments.
Guenter
Hi Charlie,
thanks a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
Guenter
As already mentioned you are the remix master!
This is defensively better than the original. You have a great talent here!
Hi Janice & Bud,
thanks a lot for your thorough review.
Guenter
I live that slap popping bass! You can blend so many styles it's a true talent!
And the horns!!!!
Hi David,
Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
Guenter
Hi Floyd,

Your thorough kind review made my day.
Guenter

same reply as for Floyd. Thanks for your
continuity.
Guenter
Hi Pat,
I'm always looking forward to your comments
and I'm never disappointed. This time is no
exception. Thanks a lot.
Guenter
Hi Bob,
thanks a lot for your continuous support.
Guenter
That is fantastic, I love everything you did. Every track felt like it within the song, al parts glued together. I would say that other than the violin being a little to loud to my ears, if you don't win, I'll be upset.
Guenter,
HOW do you keep doing it??
This is astounding as usual.
Words fail me as all has already been said by the others.
excellent
Alyn
Hi Sergio,

Guenter
Hi Lawrence,

Thanks a lot.
Guenter
Hi Islansoul,
thanks a lot for your nice comments.
Guenter
Guenter,
What amazes me first is how you make such unexpected instrument combinations actually work with a modern vocal like this.
Second how you don't over do anything.
And third how you change it up to keep things fresh and moving at just the right times.
I believe what you have is talent with experience.
How you use it - that's "finesse".
Hi Alyn,
thanks a lot.
It just happens.
Guenter
Hi Josie,
thanks a lot for your very kind review.
Guenter
Dear friend !:))
Sorry for this late answer

Sorry I missed this earlier. I've been traveling and have had less opportunities than I would have liked.
I have to endorse all of the other positive comments - they're all exactly correct. The production is sensational, perfect mix, outstanding music from every angle. Thanks for another delivery of excellent quality.
Trevor
Hi Dani,
I'm very glad you finally made it.
Thanks a lot.
Guenter
Hi Guenter
What a beautiful vocal. I am sure you have made it sound so much better that the original. You are too modest. Love the horns. I enjoy all your remixes. (Listened to one of the other ones and yours is wow!)
Cool song! Hot song! What a voice! That Bass! Damn!
Hi Trevor,
thanks a lot for your nice comments.
Guenter
Hi Joanne and Kenny,
thanks a lot for your nice comments.
Guenter
Hi Guenter,
Once again, you've given the forum an outstanding example of the power and potential of BIAB/RB. This is truly superb in every way. You are certainly a force to be reckoned with in the mixing and arranging arenas!
