A co-write with David Snyder.
Don't let a hurricane go to waste...

I LOVE YOU WHEN IT RAINS

you and me behind the barn
storm clouds on the way
hear that thunder
bring it on, i pray
we kiss... it's lightning
those first drops begin to fall
i've got you right where i want you, girl
my back against the wall

i love you when it rains
a river flowing through your hair
seeing you drenched in that old t shirt
i bought you at the fair
   don't mind a sunny day
   but making love this way
   you drive me crazy insane
god... i love you when it rains

kiss your neck, kiss your nose
kiss your body from your head to your toes
girl, my love
grows and grows and grows
tell me what you want
should we run for cover, safe, inside
or we can do it all right here
whatever you decide

i love you when it rains
a river flowing through your hair
seeing you drenched in that old t shirt
i bought you at the fair
   don't mind a sunny day
   but making love this way
   you drive me crazy insane
god... i love you when it rains

let the heavens open wide
let it rain
let it rain
let it rain

i love you when it rains
a river flowing through your hair
seeing you drenched in that old t shirt
i bought you at the fair
   don't mind a sunny day
   but making love this way
   you drive me crazy insane
god... i love you when it rains

Another great collaboration from you guys.

Classic Greatness....

Enjoyed this from start to finish.

Charlie
Nice work... really good dynamics between the verses and chorus. The only thing missing is a soaring guitar solo.....

Good work on the collab
A beautiful soar to the melody on the chorus made the best of by the fine vocal - my favourite of your collaborations so far!
I could also hear a guitar solo in there... maybe David Lindley style slide.

David and Floyd,

Just one word pops into mind when I listen to this:
"this is radio ready!"
Definitely your best collab so far.

Rob
Floyd & David,
Great song and co-write and a killer vocal - Floyd that was brilliant!
You two are on a roll. Keep 'em coming.

Peter
ALERT, ALERT!! Apparently Bruce Springsteen is auditioning new songs on our forum under the pseudonyms Floyd Jane and David Snyder!! Seriously guys, this is fantastic!!! Chorus is magical. And Floyd, who always delivers a strong vocal knocked this one out of the park. Love the song, love the arrangement, love the vocal, and LOVE THE CHORUS!! A real treat to listen to. AWESOME!!! Take care. Greg
Yes, again more quality is being presented. A sensational collaboration.

Great lyrics, great delivery, great music,

Thoroughly enjoyable.

Adding a solo would make this too long... there is "soaring" in the bridge...more (from a solo) would get to be too much...

HI Guys.

Another classic track and professional in every respect.

I was going to go with Herb about the solo, but maybe you're right? If it was up to me, I'd have found room for some unobtrusive lead guitar ornamentation in the spaces during the last chorus - just trying it out now as the track is playing. Maybe it's not so easy to do with RTs.

Anyway, loved it as it is.

Cheers, ROG.
f&D, This is the sound of modern country. That steel is a great real track! The drums are absolutely killer! Top notch lyrics and arrangement as well as vocals. A brilliant collab and it's good to see you are both drinking the same kool-aid. Loved everything about this. Tom
This one deserves a lot of replays, there's like a great sweet spot when then song reaches the title line. The melody and the chords just open up and soar. I agree with all that's being said here, except no solo needed. This is a learning opportunity for me, great
skills at work here.

Kenny
Nice collaboration! Modern country at it's best in my opinion.

P.S. Floyd, I noticed in the song description that you are using loops from Drums on Demand. If you don't mind my asking, are you using BIAB to add these loops to the song, or do you use your DAW and add them after the fact?

(I am so out of the loop when it comes to this stuff, pardon the pun :P)
Great write, Floyd and David.

I love the muted electric guitar--it really locks in the groove.

Fred
Floyd & David,

What a great song - outstanding vocal by Floyd.

We like hearing that...
Wow! This is so well done. I always like your work, Floyd, but I think this is probably the best I have heard from you. The production is superb, and this one sounds like it was just made for your voice. You and David are really on a roll!

Great work from both of you!

Steve
floyd and David,

I like the lyrics, whoever wrote them,
Quote:
we kiss... it's lightning
brilliant
and your vocals, floyd, were excellent!
I really enjoyed that and so gave the neighbours a treat yesterday! Volume at 11 and doors wide open, No complaints so far grin Amazingly, as I live in the middle of a town, a couple of Herons dropped in for a rest during the 2nd play of the song so even the local wildlife appreciates your music grin

The story in the lyrics will be re-enacted in town this week, not by me ...too old frown , as it is Fair Week and, as usual, it is raining and a bit windy, no where near a hurricane tho' thankfully.

thoroughly enjoyed

thanks for sharing

Thanks, Peter. (Your work in "Average Mojo" was outstanding!)

Greg - how could we not like THAT review?! Kind of surprised that David hasn't jump all over that one....(he's kinda Bruce obsessed, I think smile )
Thanks Charlie, Floyd really knocked this one into the bleachers for sure.
Thanks Herb!
Thanks Robert!
Thanks to both of you! I have been loving your stuff as well!!
Thanks Peter!

Ha ha ha! Thanks Greg.

Beneath the city
two heart beats...

smile

But seriously that is the biggest compliment in the world. Thank you so much.
Thanks VideoTrack!!
Thanks ROG!
Thanks Kenny! You are writing some smokin' tunes yourself man. Keep it up!!
Wow, Dave, thank you so much. That really means a lot.
Thanks Fred. I have been lovin' your new stuff as well!
Thanks Bob. I agree. Floyd head a home run with this one.
Thanks Steve!
Ha ha ha! Funny! Don't give up yet man. That is NOT the basis for a country song!

smile

Give it one more whirl, you can do it!!
Oh, yeah, Hey everybody. Sorry, I got lost behind my amplifier.

I am back. Thanks for all the kind words.

Floyd, it not not accurate to say I am Bruce obsessed.

But, I will say, no one has seen me and Bruce together at the same time.

Just sayin'..

No, that is not true. Actually I stood right beside him on the Born to Run Tour when we both got locked out of his concert. The security guard let us both back in. I walked in behind him. Long story. Nice guy. I will have to tell everyone some time.
Very cool collaboration. Excellent vocal and lyric.

Thanks, ROG. A large portion of current Country songs (radio songs, anyway) have gotten away from having guitar solos...and since this one was already rather "wordy" it seemed appropriate to forego it here...
Superb work guys.

A write for writers to wish for and delivered by some of the best "power floyd" vocals to date. And another production that illustrates what talent + BiaB can yield...that being the ole pro studio sound.

Greg's "alert" is perfecto.

Stunning.

We appreciate that, Dave. We were, in fact, trying for as "modern" a sound as we could find.... The "loops" are mixed in the DAW - Studio One Professional is what I use - it has an option to stretch any added audio to the selected tempo, so everything fits/works. It's really more "sections" than what one would traditionally call "loops". I use BIAB loops occasionally - like for my Hand Claps - things that really loop repetitively. This is more selecting sections and piecing them together until you have built a performance (like a drum track).

Wow Floyd and David, what can I say that hasn't already been said!

This song could and should be in the country charts.

Rec
You guys... this song is INCREDIBLE! Listening to (and reading) the lyrics reminds me of late-summer/early autumn romance - the intense kind that just consumes you!

No question - this is the "Hot Forum Topic" for today!
floyd and David,

Congratulations on yet another outstanding collaboration.

It's a great hook. The first time I listened to the song was just a little while after you posted it. Before listening or reading the lyrics, though, I sat here thinking about how to make "I love you when it rains" work as a hook. Try as I might, nothing came to mind. Then I listened. By the end of the song, I found myself thinking, "Why didn't that angle occur me?" I greatly admire your 'outside the square' creativity.

Mix, singing, writing, arranging... everything... as professional as it gets!

All the best,
Noel
