Soundcloud link: Drive

The "Xtra Styles" style used in this song is just what I was looking for to finish up this song. Hard driving, hot, and fun to work with.

There are two great guitar tracks in the style, but no lead guitar that would fit my needs. So I recorded a lead guitar track using a Fender Nashville Power Telecaster to finish up the song. Vocal is mine. The tracks were exported from BIAB to Reaper, vocal and guitar tracks added. This is probably NOT the final mix but it's pretty close to what I want.

BIAB info is below. However for those who would like to see the progression and other details here is a link to the actual BIAB file. I have the Xtra Styles pak loaded and the latest build of BIAB Everything prog on my computer. So if you get an error message check your BIAB installation.

Enjoy,
Bob

LYRICS:

Drive
© 2016 Bob Buford

(verse)
Sun’s coming up in my rearview
A new day’s coming on
I’m putting these wheels in the wind
Before anybody knows I’m gone

(chorus)
Well, I got to drive
I got to drive
There’s nothing else in this world makes me feel so alive
Lookin’ good, feelin’ strong
Baby, let’s just get gone
Wind it up, turn it on
I got to drive

(verse)
CDs piled in the backseat
Man, I love them good old songs
One little suitcase’ll do me
I’ve been shut down too long

(chorus)
I got to drive
I got to drive
There’s nothing else in this world makes me feel so alive
Lookin’ good, feelin’ strong
Baby, let’s just get gone
Wind it up, turn it on
I got to drive

(bridge)
When the sun comes up on Monday
I’m heading back in to town
And I’ll have all week long to daydream
Of me and this ragtop down

(chorus)
Drive
I got to drive
There’s nothing else in this world makes me feel so alive
Lookin’ good, feelin’ strong
Baby, let’s just get gone
Wind it up, turn it on
I got to drive
Wind it up, turn it on
I got to drive

Good song! Loved the way you transitioned out of the bridge, very effective. Great groove and fun lyrics too.

Hi Charlie...glad you liked it. This one definitely gave me a blister. grin

Thanks for listening,
Bob

That’s the two things that gave me life, long driving with hard music
Brings it all back, surfboards on top of the old truck, down to Jeffreys Bay, 5hrs there, roar back to make Mon.
Creedence Clearwater reminding you what life was all about That is what your song was all about

Hi Paddy, Yes, exactly. And the road is still there, and the songs. Vehicle has changed but when you need to clear your head...nothing else works better, eh? grin

Thanks for listening,
Bob
Bob,
Love the crashing opening chords- and it doesn`t back off from there. Your vocal sounds right in the pocket to me.
Short,catchy and irresistible!

Robert
Bob,

That is a very nice rocker, we didn't know that one can get such a sound out of BiaB smile
Really nicely done.

Rob and Anne-Marie
Bob,

- Wow, great rocker (loved that opening guitar sound)!
- Vocal sound was perfect
- Nice fat sounding mix
- Mmmmm - that guitar solo was wild! I'm so jealous of your Tele smile
- Nice key change

Were you using an amp modelling plugin with the Tele or micing up a real amp?

Thanks for including the SGU file. I will study it some more in BIAB.

Enjoyed the song,
Jez
AHHH the rock sounds are definitely ...the history of music ..well done and great vocals.

I did think the arrangement was too low ..if you lifted that ....?

As I thought your voice tho brilliant was too out front for rock.

And your band a bit distant ...balanced this would have had the Belter badge

from Glasgow...Scotland .

Hi Jez,

The Tele was run through a Johnson J-station (multi-effects hardware) and straight into the board. Nothing fancy, BRIT COMBO amp model with compression and delay, slight reverb. Tele's don't need a lot of help.

Bob

Made two trips there over the years. Drove all over. Such a beautiful country, and the highlands remind me a lot of parts of Colorado. No family but I have a FB friend in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Mark Higgins, horse trainer, breeder. Man, I think I could live there.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Bob
That's cool Bob I don't live far from Hamilton.

I have a fear of flying so...never been outside of u.k.

But Colarado..you could live here ..?..I dream of...Colarado of the land of

opportunity...exciting place to be and of course good music and talented people

like yourself.

I love this forum ..but I would love it too be more open honest..etc.

Like my post to you ..I am only honest on what I hear....a wee tweak and you

have a belter as we say in Glasgow..and it would sound awesome...I wish I got a

response like this...I would know then I was doing alright or what to change..

Hey Colly,

So you're asking for a helpful detailed critique of your submissions then? I'd say some people don't always feel comfortable critiquing a recent member to avoid running them off. And others may not feel qualified to make a critique. Initially you'll probably have to accept the light-handed reviews. You might state in your submissions that you really WANT a helpful critique and encourage members to help you get better. Taste in music and the production thereof are very subjective areas, so getting suggestions that are more personal opinions may not really help you all that much. I'd say give it some time. Keep posting your songs and take what you can from the reviews.
