This is our last forum post of 2016. I consider this one of our best ballads. It features the beautiful Eddy Dunlap pedal steel guitar RT. It wasn't easy to sing (took us quite a few takes) because the song's key wasn't really our comfort zone. But it resulted in one of our most powerful harmonies, I think.
Terrific! Yes, you are ending the year on a high note. The melody ( and your vocals ) are so captivating that its easy to float by the lyrics...and they are good, avoiding the big ballad cliches. To my ears this has real commercial potential. Lovely video images too.
Thank you ROG for such a thoroughly positive comment! About the break: It was quite tempting to do this, considering the beautiful style which already had a lot of "fullness" in it.
It wasn't easy to sing .......would have never known it from the way you guys handled it!! This is beautifully done. "Hard believing" is an unusual use of English but that makes it a very intriguing and special. This may be my favorite of so many great songs you guys have posted. The pedal steel sounds completely custom. WONDERFUL!! Take care. Greg
Beautiful! Wonderful sound. Some of the prettiest harmonies I've heard you do. Great arrangement of the backing tracks too. Love it.
Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,
I enthusiastically agree with Josie. This is an incredible sound. The way that the harmony, instruments, vocals, composition and arrangement all inter-twine to produce a fullness of musical texture that shines. 'Outstanding' is the word that bounced around in my mind as a I listened.
It certainly is a very fine audio-visual submission with which to conclude 2016.
What a pleasure to hear your wonderful music again ... we've always thought you two were among the very best on these forums.
Once you've added all that's necessary and then take away anything not absolutely needed, most often the result is a fantastic musical creation. This is what you have here. everything needed for the sound was there and we heard absolutely nothing that shouldn't have been there. And as already said, the vocals are exceptional. This is a really great song!!!!
As Robert said, "Terrific! Yes, you are ending the year on a high note." Your harmony is very beautiful and pleasant. The combination of only a few instruments is favorable. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
When the video opened with an aerial view of the beach, accompanied by a solitary guitar , I knew it was going to be good in the way that your productions always are.
You both have your fingers squarely on the pulse of a discerning audience, and you know how to raise the excitement level of your listeners by starting out good and then ramping it all up to the next level.
I liked the ramp up at the 1:30 mark when the pedal steel came in and the ambient background appeared. Very nice!
Meanwhile, the video masterfully and tastefully complemented the audio, making the whole presentation better than the sum of its parts.
I agree that the key you chose for the song resulted in a powerful performance from both of you.. but I'm curious to know why you didn't choose a key you felt more comfortable with. Was it because that key was the only one that put both of your parts in range at the same time?
As we end the year, let me thank you both for all the wonderful music you have presented her in this forum, and for the support you've shown for all of the other forum participants during 2016. You are among the elite as far as I'm concerned.
I think this is what they called "the whole package", everything of this song have been taken good care of, and together it sounds so so harmonized and beautiful, even what you call it "not comfort zone", but I guess sometimes you just need to squeeze yourself a little bit more (not sure about the correctness of my English expression...squeeze?)
Hi Anne-Marie and Rob, I have been absent from the forum for a while, but I am not surprised to find again your wonderful musical work. Not to mention the video; finally the lady goes in water or not ?
I agree with all that's been said already. Your vocals and harmonies are always good - and this might be one of your best! Strong.
Excellent arrangement. Terrific build. Excellent mix. The piano is EQ'd nicely. Nice use of the steel (the new ones are a great addition to BIAB!).
Beautiful song. Nice video! A great listen (many, in fact).
Wishing you a productive 2017 (for our sake! )

Thank you Floyd, for your very positive comments on our music throughout this year. We wish you all the best and a very musical 2017. And we are sure you are going to manage that with top quality productions as we have grown so accustomed to ;-)
There's a polish your work has that lifts your songs into "pro" category.
Somehow that button got left off my version of BiaB. Maybe they'll add it in 2018?
I'm sure the lyrics were great, but I confess that I had trouble listening to them, what with the smooth tone of your voice and the loveliness of the production distracting me.
