My goal for 2017 is to break on through to the other side--and be as strange as I can possibly be.

Here is the 1st song of 2017.

Original Sin

By David Snyder

V1

Woke up in the garden
staring up at the blue
I had the strangest memories
of things I never knew

CH

Now I long for yesterday
when I didn't know a thing
didn't know a thing
I only had a heart back then
and all I did was sing, all I did was sing
now they took away my heart
and replaced it with a sense of time
a sense of time
I wish that I could give it back
then I would be fine
I would be fine

V2

Someone had it in for me
best not know the truth
things were just beginning for me
what was I to do

CH

Now I long for yesterday
when I didn't know a thing
didn't know a thing, not a thing
I only had a heart back then
all I did was sing, all I did was sing
now they took away my heart
and replaced it with a knowing mind
a knowing mind
I wish that I could give it back
then I would be fine
I would be fine

V3

So say a prayer for me
though there's nothing to defend
I only know that I get blamed
In places I’ve never been
And no one bothers telling me
How this game will end
And no one's making sense to me
When they talk about original sin

CH.

And ooo--oooh, how will it end
And no’s making sense to me
When they talk about original sin

(Repeat and Rideout)

David,

Ok, here's what I'm hearing. It sounds like Jim Steinman, Peter Gabriel & Pink Floyd met in a bar late after midnight and said let's make a record, and this is the result...

Loved it! You keep pushing the boundaries.

David,

We love big productions ... and this is BIG!

Loved it ... you always make us wonder what's next from you. And when we finally hear it, we're always amazed by your creativity. Very cool, indeed!

Happy New year!

Wow very cool backtrack. Love your choice of Realtracks. Excellent vocal and lyric..

Was there really anything to break through? smile

Me thinks Bob nailed the description!

"I had the strangest memories of things I never knew."

I had to start the song over after hearing that. Just keep thinking about it.

Fascinating write and production.

Hello 2017.

That was a mushroom garden, right?

Boundaries? We don't need no steenkin' boundaries...

What an excellent rock opera type write!

Unique. Original and sinful.

You are a BIAB god.

Love the vocal. More reverb! More delay!

Dude!

David

Strange (in a good way) but engaging - nice big sound and interesting progression.
Good work - nicely melodic.

Hey Floyd man!

Thanks a billion, I have a big grin on my face right now.

But WAIT!!! I thought YOU were the BIAB god.

Are we living in some kind of ethereal other-worldly six dimensional parallax mushroom universe of multiple BIAB deities????

Wait, wait...Eb..Eb6...Abm7...borrowed chord...stolen chord.......sudden key change....

Gotta run man.

Happy New Year and stuff. See ya on the other side Caiao!

David,

Long after the "others" finally arrive and cannot make sense of our species they`re going to drop by David Snyder`s place and listening to your songs, say... oh, now we get it!
That`s a long winded way of saying this is very cool psychedelic wonder stuff.
Very enjoyable!

David, " I had the strangest memories of things I never knew". What a line! Loved the chord progression and the huge sound. Good job with the synths and the strings. I enjoyed it. Tom

Great sound!
Feels like I discovered a lost Bowie track that is so good. Love the melody and chord
changes.

Well that definitely is a goal we support!
Didn't even know there was a Bowie style;-)

Really like this one, nice and dramatic.

Who could say it better? Wow!! I do hear the trippiness of Gabriel, the texture of Floyd, and the theatrical quality of Steinman. I would add, that after they meet, the drop some acid, and THEN make the record. Love it!! Take care. Greg

Happy new year, David

As many others said, I also heard Bowie in this tune.
What an excellent rock opera type write!
Very unique but also very orthodoxy as a rock tune.
It is so nice the descent chromatic line, D - C# - C - B on Pedal Point of G.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best wishes for this year.

Super song David.

Reminded me of Scary Monsters. I wrote very Bowie like, and then saw the style! :-) Great work.

Thank you so much Lambada!

It is funny you mentioned the "Bowie" style. Sometimes I make up my own styles and this was one of them.

So glad you liked it. Thanks again!!

That's quite a production -- I know so little about Bowie but this fits with everything I do know...

Enjoyed my listen.

Thanks Charlie!!

Know so little about Bowie, well...

I think "Ground Control to Major Tom..." and "The 70s?...I don't remember the 70s." (My Favorite Bowie quote) pretty much sums it up. What else is there to know???

Sounds great David! Huge sound and it kind of reminds me of a Zep tune. You just keep rollin' them out one after another which is a good thing. Thanks, Torrey.

Thanks Torrey. I'll take Zep any day of the week!! Thank you so much!!
