So, it's been a while since I posted a song, but here we are with a bit of.... well, it's hard to say really, maybe a sort of progressive Punk-Rock. Anyway, here it is, for better or worse and I hope at least some of you get a bit of fun out of it.

RT801 Guitar
RT1680 12 string guitar
RT479 Trumpet
Lead and lap-steel guitars, bass and keyboards are by me, as are the vocals including the BVs which took me up to a top "A" (ouch)

Victim of Love
I was lost in the Lost & Found
I was down, down and out and nothing brought me round
And the light, that light which always shone on me
Faded away and brought me to my knees
I called the doctor who said "Heavens above"
He said "You're just another Victim of Love"

He said "It's hard (It's so hard)
And it just gets worse (Things can't get no worse)
You've got to move on and try to shake that curse
It's not easy when she's taken all you had
Go and find some good love, before it all goes bad"
I called the doctor who said "Heavens above"
He said "You're just another Victim of Love"

But she made me laugh
She made me smile
She made me happy
For a little while

As usual, many thanks to all who have the time to listen.

Cheers, ROG

Cool song Rog. Has an 80's vibe to it. Really like your stuff. Last song post and this on reminds me of the Cars.

ROG,

This is great! I think progressive punk-rock describes it perfectly.

Loved it.

ROG,

This is outstanding!

Cool opening - always an important factor to a production...

The mix is top-notch. Listening in phones, everything is in the perfect space...each instrument standing out and fitting in.

Love the bridge. The trumpet works spectacularly!

A good rock write. Interesting, entertaining.

One of your best vocals! (I always enjoy your vocals) Terrific harmonies!

This is a great listen - I'm on my 3rd...

Man, just so good! I agree with Scott, does remind me of something the Cars might have done back in the day, similar groove.

Outstanding in every way, killer job on the production too!

Super cool! We love it all. Janice is dancing around the living room as we listen ...actually she's singing along like a "backup chick." smile

She said she feels a Dire Straits and Travelling Wilbury groove and I agree. Perhaps odd to hear that in a punk song - maybe the timbre of your vocal.

Great write, playing (all of it) and production.

Oh yeah!!

Great!

An example of how a repetitive guitar riff can make a song interesting. Groovy voice and choruses placed at the right point. Well done !

Great write, ROG

Excellent phrasing, and the backing vocals added interest and fun.

I could hear some classic 'Queen' rock style in there.

Congratulations, well delivered.

So glad that Jeff Lynn could drop in and help
with backing vocals, they're great!
Also with a nod to Macca "it can't get no worse"
This is another great feel good rocker from you.
very cool, enjoyed!

Hi Bob and thanks for the review. Glad you agree about the genre. I do listen to quite a bit of early Jonathon Richman and I think it maybe influenced this track. If you're not familiar with his stuff try this for size. It's a little strange, but I love it.

Rog,
Enjoyed that a lot. Reminded my wife of Lou Reed.
Cars, Dire Straits, Queen, ELO, Lou Reed, Travelling Wilburys,
Must be doing something right!

ROCK ON ROG!!!
The "Barry Gibbs" trousers still work well on the high harmonies *ouch* grin
This doesn't sound like Robert Palmer but I see your backing band as HIS band in the video for "Addicted to love" blush
Great to hear you again!

bit nippy isn't it?

Hi Floyd.
I always look forward to getting your input and I'm pleased that you enjoyed this one.
Listening to Alyn makes me want to break the mould and try something different and feedback is always welcome.
Many thanks, ROG.

Many thanks, Dave. The Cars wasn't the first thing which came to mind, but I'm more than happy with that connection.

Floyd nailed it. I'm listening on computer speakers but the clarity of the mix still stands out. Your mixes are always very big and very live, and tight at the same time. I'm in awe!! Take care. Greg

Hello, ROG

Very British rock sound!
A little Mick jaguar.
Harmonies reminds me of some British group like the Hollies.
Very cool and tight.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks, Trevor. Since our girl singers went off to university, I've had to do my own BVs. I actually enjoy the tracking-up but as I said, these took me up to a top "A" which was a bit of a challenge. Still, pleased you liked it. Thanks. ROG.

Thanks, Kenny. Yes, the "can't get no worse" was a deliberate nod towards the Beatles - I wondered if anyone would pick it up. Glad you liked Jeff Lynn's part in this!

Hi Peter and many thanks. Listening to Lou Reed in the early 70s greatly influenced my approach to music. It must still show a bit.

Alyn, my old Welsh pal, many thanks for looking in. The high harmonies can indeed be dangerous! Anything over a top "A" shouldn't be undertaken without medical help on standby.
Hey, who wouldn't want Palmer's backing band?
About time for another offering from you my friend?

Hi ROG,

Sorry for being so late to the party!

Wow!!!! I'm sitting here listening, feet tapping... I'm even typing in time! LOL smile

This is outstanding.... your arrangement and your multiple performances are mind-boggling and I mean that in the sense that as I'm sitting trying to work out what you did, my brain is spinning around. I'm really impressed with what I'm hearing. I don't know how you did it, but the end result is mesmerising from start to finish.

All the best,
Noel

Hi Noel.
Late or not, I'm always pleased to get a review from you, especially when it's as good as that!
There's a lot of time invested in the little bits of ornamentation which come and go, so it's particularly pleasing that that you appreciated the arrangement.
Many thanks, ROG.
