There’s A Light
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

Long ago in this town
There were smiles and laughter
To be found

Far away now you have gone
Quiet streets seem haunted
No one’s home

There’s a light
Stays on all night
Find your way
Back to me

Long ago and by the sea
Hours spent in silence
Just you and me

There’s a light that’s in your eyes
I’d never seen
Eyes of green
That said goodbye

There’s a light
Stays on all night
Find your way
Back to me

Kenny,
Really nice laid back feel and a pretty melody, well sung and a nice lyric.
Very engaging.

Very nice, Kenny! I love the feel of this one, nice laid back groove. Great vocal!
Very effective bringing those strings in after the first chorus.

Kenny,

Love the feel of this one and the mood it creates. Great vocal and mix as well.

Excellent!

I like this.

The mix sounds good. I'm a big fan of vocals up front where they can be heard easily. I think you could perhaps back the vox off a dB or two and still be good. The EQ on the vox was also good. Nice and bright sounding.

good job

Boy do I ever like this tune. Reminded me of a David Gilmour vocal. Well done
Posted By: Will B - PG Music Re: There's A Light - 03/03/17 03:43 PM
Really nice tune, Kenny. I absolutely love the chorus - agreed with Scott on the Gilmour vibes!. I also really appreciate how subtle the strings are - effective choice.

Nice job Kenny. I like the vocal delivery and how the song it drew me in.

Kenny,

This is by far my favorite song of yours. I just love it.

So well done. Sounds great. Haunting. Wonderful lyrics, excellent vocal, stays in your head and won't leave.

Don't know what else to say. A classic.

Kenny,

This is an excellent listen. The writing, arranging, singing and mixing all work hand-in-hand to create a top notch product. You've pulled out all stops with this one!

All the best,
Noel

Hello Kenny,

This is the first ballad Di and I have heard from you. We really enjoyed it!

Your raspy voice wraps itself around the music perfectly. Great mix (perhaps vocal just a touch too forward), good lyric and the prosody are spot on. Our favorite from you so far. best,

A great opening phrase, long ago, and then far away, they really set the mood, a wonderful integration of lyrics and melodic line.

Hello, Kenny

Very nice slow ballad.
I think it is very difficult to make a good melody with only three notes.
But you've done the job.
It is very beautiful the melody with the isomorphic iteration of three notes.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best Regards.

Kenny,
I enjoy your laid back mood on this and especially liked the vocal- that touch of rasp in your voice a nice contrast to the soothing melody.

Perfect selection of band members, great lyrics, and excellent tune.

I just got deeper and deeper into it, Kenny...it is just beautiful...I hope you have a submittal portal for films/soundtrack catalogues....I could actually SEE movie scenes....

I like that the vocals are not completely out front. And I'm a hack and I'm sure you toyed around with pulling them back slightly, echoed, might give it a a subliminal feel, Cowboy Junkies-ish.

BUT, it is a wonderful mix as is! I could go on all day.

Kenny,

This is a really terrific listen. I like the way you seem to write "songs that SING" - such sing-able melodies with the words falling "just right". It is such an important part of writing (often overlooked) and you do it so well...

The band fits well and your vocals (as always) are a real pleasure to listen to.

I look forward to whatever comes next!

Thanks guys,
Already re-mixed vocals and fixed little piano glitch, just don't want to replace
Soundcloud version and lose the nice comments from folks here.
