Growing up the son of a Mexican-American mother and a Cajun-American father I listened to a lot of Mariachi music and Cajun music. In the mid- nineteenth century Germans migrated all along the Gulf of Mexico and they brought their waltzes and accordions with them. I can't help but believe that they influenced the Cajuns and Mexicans as there are so many musical similarities.

I've had the first verse for several years and this year wrote the rest. The timing could not have been better with the new Mariachi Realtracks.

Ranchero Song (5-12-16)

I once loved a horse named Izquierdo/ He had such a time turning right
When we tried to leave San Antonio/ we circled that city all night

I rescued a dog named Cerveza/ But I could not get him to eat
He spent all of his time drinking/ and wandering around in the street

My Ex left her calico Cinco/ who thought shaking hands was a jive
And every time that I went near her/ she raised up a paw for high five

Now it’s just me and my Bonita/ she’s seen me through trouble and strife
She said “Love I never will leave you”/ So I made that old goat my wife

Caballero, old Vaquero, I’m just a humble Ranchero
Tell Izquierdo, gato y perro/ that me and Bonita are fine

Lawrence,

Is this funny, or what? We say funny - loved that ending! Love the way you broke your voice for the high notes. If I did that, I'd be in the hospital for weeks!

We're still smiling.

Si se mantienen la escritura y el canto, te mantenga escucha!

Lawrence, Very funny and entertaining write. Nice full voice and some fine semi yodels. There is Mariachi music in the air where we live and I hear it and enjoy it every day. Loved everything about this. Tom

Outstanding!

The history of music melting pots is always fascinating -- thanks for the background.

Those first two lines set it up -- nobody could lose interest after that.

And man, the vocal is standout. You effortlessly move amongst genres...always maintaining your signature sound but working so well in disparate styles.

A wonderful listen!

Edit: We just came back for more listens...over the top good.

Lawrence, your vocal on this is outstanding! This is great! I had never thought about the German waltz connection to this genre of music but it makes sense. Thanks, Torrey

Hello, Lawrence

Mariachi's band comes into my eyes.
I have been seen in movies of Presley etc. in my childhood, I remember the guitarron very well because it was very impressive.
The music is very fun. And so is yours.
